i have a JIC TI 3 inch resonated version...my AAM Y PIPE is comming in later today..the y pipe goes from 2.5 to 3inches...i also have test pipes that i might put on that 2.5inches i beleive..
my question is since im NA will i lose power with this setup...will i be able to keep this setup when i go FI which will hopefully be within the next few months?will i gain from this setup still being NA?
im going to get it dynoed on the 2nd of next month so ill know then but yeah just wondering and welcome everyones input

The efficiency of the exhaust is equal to the MOST restrictive component. Put a bunch of 3 inch pipe together with a 2 inch pipe in the middle, and the 2 inch pipe is the chock point.
Besides if you want a free flowing exhaust why are you using a y-pipe?

i don't understand this. he is replacing the factory ypipe with something bigger.

I think davidv is thinking of a true dual to have optimum "free-flow". Something like an x-pipe or h-pipe.
But who said that true duals have the best flow? IMO, the setup you have:
2.5" test pipes ----> 2.5" -- 3.0" ypipe ------> 3.0" single exhaust
is perfect for NA. So what made you think you would lose power? If this was a 3" true dual then I can understand power loss, but your setup is single which IMO is the best for NA power.

it felt smoother...my stock y pipe is 2.25in instead of a 2.5 so it definately had a smoother exit...alil louder but not too loud...still had that nice deep tone...i took the silencer out..it sounded like a honda with it on...havent put on the test pipes yet...might do it this weekend..looking to get a motordyne iso thermal spacer soon..then ill chill out and start saving alil more for FI..thinking about getting it tuned instead of dynoed next(i know tunning includes dyno)

i know it might seem dumb but if i was going to get it tuned id get a haltech in preparation for FI...seems smarter for me to spend a lil extra and not have to get another EMS later

Just tune bolts on is waste your money if you ask me. Trust me, just enjoy N/A with bolts on, and save money untill you are ready to go.
