Default Possible exhaust leak?

Ive got a borla exhaust with a magnaflow xpipe welded onto it. I have flanges that connect to testpipes from the xpipe. Now I hear a funny air leak sound around 2000-3000. When installing the exhaust I didnt replace the gasket on the header or the spot where the exhaust and testpipe meet. Can that cause the leak? should I have replaced the gaskets?

if you have a exhaust leak you should be able to hear it...get underneath your car and listen for a hiss...i used the same gaskets when i changed up my exhaust setup...i eventually changed them out with no problem..you normally would always change your used gasket..i would start with this..or maybe you didnt tighten something all the way down...

i dont really hear it when idle but definitely when you give it some gas. i might just get it over with and take off the test pipes and put all new gaskets up. its just a pain in the but with no lift. i miss working for a garage and using the lift for free

Always use new gaskets of course. Not worth saving $20 just to have to do it all over again. As you have discovered.

Sometimes a gasket will shift out of place during installation. A little gasket cement will hold it in place.

yea you just need to replace the gaskets. shouldnt take you that long even jacking up the car and getting underneath it.

Today I went to a few performance shops to get the gaskets and they all told me they didnt have any to fit the 350z. Anyone know of a place that carries them?

What size are these gaskets? Of they're OEM ones, try calling your Nissan Dealer parts department....front 2 should be 11 a piece the one behind the y pipe runs about 9~10.00 if you need one of those

My new piping is 2.5 in. i would think i would need to get new gaskets to compensate the new pipe size.
