Default HFC??

I already searched and didn't find anything, if there is please post the link.

I just installed my hks exhaust couple days ago, and i want it to be a little louder. I was reading up on some threads and heard that there were issues with cracking from berk hfc, is this correct? If I were to get hfc, which brand would you guys recommend that would last a long time while still providing increased volume. Also, would like to hear more from hks owners with hfc and which ones you went with.

one more thing, would FI, berk, or crawford produce different sounds? or would any of them provide the same sound? Just looking for increased sound from my hks, not altering the note. Thanks.

I blew my welds on my HFC 2 times. They weren't berks but the welds still blew. I also have my hfcs making a crap load of noise because I busted the resonators in them from extreme heat. Usually takes a while to do that to the cats but why spend $500 to have that happen 8 months later. You are better off getting straight pipes and spending $250 less than the HFCs. Also if you have your stock cats you can throw them back on to pass emissions. The straight pipes are going to be lowder but they will sound good with a bit of the hissing sound, forget what it's called. Since the cats are high flows they are gonna sound good regardless of the type

There are a crap load of threads on the cracking of the HFCs just do a searc of Berk metallic cats or something like that..

There is a "issue" with reliability of all test pipes and high-flow catalytic converters. Stress cracks, failure of internal material.

Geez, well that sucks. Is it just the test pipes and hfc's that are prone to cracks? Nothing of that sort will happen to our aftermarkets exhausts, is that correct?

Unfortunately no. Members report material inside of cat-back exhaust systems (resonator and muffler material) failure. The results is not a function problem, but a noise problem. Rattle, bird-like chirp.

quick question, the only reason for changing to test pipes or hfc's over stock cats is to increase the sound volume, is that correct?

removes the restriction of the stock cat's. test pipes are ideal but HFC's can still let you pass emissions.

^^And so do test pipes if they check the OBDII ports and don't do the sniffer test. You just have to buy the CEL fixer bolts, or whatever they are called, I believe titek makes these but you can also just go to homedepot and make your own.

But you don't have to worry bout registration test if you keep the stock cats and put them on when you need to go and get ur car registered again. The cats only take all of 10 min. to take off and another 10 min to put back on.
