Default CAI question

ive been searching on here for a few hours and havnt found my answer...so no flaming! But im thinking about getting a CAI for my 03 DE and i had some questions about them.

From what i see injen is the only one that makes tubing that goes outside the engin bay right? i saw alot of people use the JWT one that the filters are inside the bay.

My questions are:

Is there big difference between a dual CAI and a single one in terms of gains?

Does it come with EVERYTHING i need to make it a dual intake? ie the throttle body adaptor?

Is injen the only one that makes the dual piping that leaves the engin bay?

Thanks

Why would you need a dual for your de motor? You can only put in one anyways. But if you want it, alot of other names make dual long intakes such as stillen

I had a nismo intake and only used half of it soi I sold the whole kit and went to pep boys and got a civic intake (the kid with just a 45 degree bend) and welded the vac holes and spent 110 for intake and k&n....otherwise nismo also goes into wheel well but the filter get hella dirty quick... Go buy a 45 degree cuppler and some 3" pipe andddd BAM u got a short ram intake!

I'll get back on my OEM soapbox.

If you are lookikng for gains, you aren't gonna really gonna get any significant gains with an aftermarket intake over the stock airbox.
Buy a 2006 factory airbox, and replace yours with it. Then drop in an Amsoil OEM replacement panel filter, or a K&N OEM replacement panel filter and you will have better gains then with an aftermarket "cold" air intake. All that can all be had for around $100.00 or less!

If you want noise and bling then get an aftermarket intake.

+1

But I bought the K&N Typhoon intake. The filter is inside the engine bay, easy to access, but the piping goes to the grill.

Well i dont know to much about the DE engine at the moment (i just got the car) but i was wondering the same thing. Why do they even make the dual intakes if they dont need them? im not worried about the money though im more after the sound + im sure i would be buying a used one anyway.

So it looks like they aren't worth it.

^ the dual intakes are for those with the HR engines and also the VHR, though i dont think they can be used interchangably

if your engine is a DE, get a single..

Thats what i was leaning towards...i cant see spending uber amounts of money for a pipe with a hole and bend when its not going to be a show car.

Yep!!

And remember that pipe with a hole and a bend in it won't even do anything to begin with because of the way our bumpers naturally "scoop" up air to the intake hole anyways. And even if it did work, it would only be at higher speeds where you will be scooping up air naturally anyways.

Don't spend any money on an intake. Get a mod that will actually give you some HP. I would start with a Motordyne intake plenum spacer.

i looked into that spacer...what would you guys recommend the 1/2 or 5/16? it says the 1/2 will give you a deeper growl. Is it really that noticeable? and is that a legit 12-14hp? it seems to much for a for just a spacer.

If you really ONLY care about "sounding fast" get the Kinetix V+ upper plenum, and a pop charger.
