Op: as a few people have already pointed out, the most likely cause of power loss is your lack of brain cells. Unless you dunked the filter in mud before putting it in your car, or somehow messed up this ridiculously easy install, the most likely reason you "feel" power loss is bc u think you can feel things that you can't.

Ehh, i don't buy it. The Apex filter was waaaaay to clean. If you check out the links i posted above you'll see the paper filter (most restrictive and most filtering) eventhough cleaner then the others, still allowed a good amout of dirt by. Also they don't seem to up front about all aspects of the experiment.

No offense to you, but that link seemes too much like biased marketing propaganda.

in the conclusion it states:

Important Notes regarding the comparison:

- Extracts of this article have been transcribed from a Japanese article featured in Revspeed Magazine, August 1999.
- The original test was based upon the results found when using filters specifically made to fit the Toyota Supra. However, the filtration is unlikely to differ, as all the filtration materials used are the same for every model of car.
- The cost given for the filters are based on a the kit for an R33 Skyline GTR, except the K & N kit which only currently exists for a Skyline GTS, and are inclusive of VAT.

I dont doubt it. like i said in the previous post, we got similiar results w/ the apexi power filter.

well i still think oem (at least on the hr, don't know about the de) is the best. but now that you mention it, the apexi does look to good to be true. either way, i know i'll never run an hks filter (or any other foam filter for that matter)

also, worth noting, since the test was done, apexi was bought out by someone (forgot by who) so quality of the filter may have changed since this test was conducted

Or the Blitz. Jesus! haha. Yeah, it amazes me how crappy a filter HKS advocates using.

Test is pretty valid. This is prior to Amsoil coming out with their own dry synthetic filters.

the fact that the blitz filter did better than the hks says how much the hks filter sucks. the blitz is basically a metal gauze, you can tell just by looking at it that its gonna be a crappy filter...

Anyone done back-to-back dyno pulls comparing new OEM filter(s) to no filter at all? It'd be interesting to see if there was much difference at all.
