Default P1273 Code......AGAIN!

I did a search through the forums regarding the P1273 code, but it seems those threads finished without an answer.

Ok, 2004 Track, Injen CAI, Crawford hi flow cats, Tanabe Exhaust. Everything has been fine until last month when a SES light popped on and code revealed P1283. AFR replaced. Code again surfaced. Spark plugs replaced. P1283 is gone, but now a P1273 has appeared.

Mechanic says a possible exhaust leak (The exhaust had a terrible droning sound during highway driving). Gaskets and seals replaced and mechanic takes the car to the dealership because P1273 code does not stay off. Mechanic finds NTB04-126 (which I have attached). Droning is gone and for the first 50 miles, the SES light does not come on.

Well, I was sitting at a traffic light and there it is, the SES light again. Back to the mechanic and he checks the code. P1273!!!

Does anyone have any ideas as to what else may be causing this code to appear? My mods are nothing spectacular, but I have a Kinetix SSV Manifold I want to install, however, not until this P1273 code is fixed.

Thanks!

IT's the o2 sensors on the manifold.. I had the 1273 code and 1283 code giving me the ses light and had the dealer put them on the day I had to go to inspection, replaced both of em and the lights turned off.. However, after doing a top speed run about a month later it came back on.. I also have a flash so that may be why it is turnin on when going that fast.

BTW how do you like the UR Pulleys? Did you feel any gains form them? Also when you put on the kinetix manifold can you keep me updated, I am also looking at this manifold and wanted to hear from someone that has about the same setup as myself.

I used to get this code weekly, but I put my OEM cats back on over a month ago and I haven't seen it since. I had test pipes with non foulers, and from the research I did most of the other people getting this code had the same setup. I wouldn't worry about it, I got it for two years and it never affected my driving.

The o2 sensor that was malfunctioning was replaced along with the spark plugs. When the SES light came on this afternoon, I was sitting at a traffic light. This crap is driving me crazy. Could the MAF be a problem? All of the mods have been on the car for over a year.

The UR pulleys were installed at the same time the Injen CAI was installed. Obviously installing UR pulleys helps with weight reduction, but I can't say they made a difference regarding hp/torque.

After I get this SES issues resolved, I will have the manifold installed and will keep you updated.

Well, the factory cats went bye, bye to the junkyard last year. The mods have been on the car for over a year and all of the sudden this code pops up?

Did you drive for two years with the SES light on?

Why is it driving you crazy though? I've had my ses light on for the past 3-4 months and I don't pay a mind to it cause I check the codes all the time.. Do you have a code for the MAF sensor, if not than I wont worry about it.. The MAF sensors are about $300 I think..

I didn't get the light for about 4 months, then it came on. After that it stopped for almost a year, then it started and every time I cleared it, it reappeared two days later.

It drives me crazy just seeing the SES light on. After paying $700 to have these issues "fixed," I expect to not have this light come on at random.

It is just one of my little quirks in life. LOL!

I hear ya, I paid $700 too just to get my damn car through inspection, I failed 2 or 3 times then had that fixed and passed, a month later the light was back on.. I don't even pay attention to it though, I wouldn't be supprised if the reason the light was coming on was because of my flash

And then, what happens when the next inspection rolls around and they tell me it will not pass because technically, this is an emissions code. I may just bite the bullet and take it right to the Nissan dealership. YUCK!

Naah, I know exactly what what they put on the car so all I have to do is go buy the parts and put them on my self.. It will only cost like $200-300 to do myself.. Labor is what kills you at the dealership

I agree, the labor rates are ridiculous. But to pay $100+ to reset a code is completely out of control. So I pay my tuner mechanic small amounts to narrow down the problem, or the Nissan dealership one big payment to get it fixed. Either way, I'm paying.

I'm not a motor head any way you look at it. My forte' is computers. I can do small projects, but issues like this P1273, forgetaboutit! LOL!

****, you shouldn't ask me that lol.. I would say get the parts that you need nd install them yourself.. Shut off the code with the code reader, you can get one at pepboys unless you have a friend that has one, nd drive around not flooring it for a few days to see if the code turns back on.. If it turns back on you are gonna have to figure out what the problem is.. Usually research is good, ask around to other 350z owners and see what they did to fix this problem.. If you think its ur maf sensor what you can do is take it out and clean it.. then put it back in and see if that code turns off.. But I know there are some real techi guys in here and they will be best to ask.. Just search in some sections and see who those guys are

importdemon5,

If you read my first post, you will see that I did do a search regarding the P1273 code. It seems those few threads just ended without an answer being given.

Secondly, my mechanic at the performance shop replaced the 02 sensor ($170) and fixed the exhaust manifold gasket and cat seal. He took it to the dealer to have the code/self learning reset. I drove it about 50 miles and the SES light came back on and the P1273 is there again.

This is the reason I started this thread. This is a TECH AREA and obviously no one has an answer.

After talking to the mechanic today, I mentioned that P1273 was not the original code. P1283 was the original code. After the sensor was replaced, the P1273 was triggered.

So what we have is the possibility of the A/F sensor or something else going on at Bank 2. He then mentioned something like both sensors not only read their side of the engine, but also monitor each other.

I sent him an email with all of the codes (his diagnostic software can read it too), but I believe he forgot about the P1283 code.

I'll keep you updated.

Since I really didn't drive the Z during the winter months, I decided to let it go. I started driving it more since the weather has been nice here in Lancaster, PA. The SES light went off for two weeks, then all of a sudden it came back on just a few days ago.

It is going in for inspection next month and I will see what the dealership has to say about it. It WAS nice NOT seeing that light for two weeks.
