Yeah I can imagine! Well, my situation is slightly different, but with many similarities! I have an '04 Maxima, with Cattman headers/full exhaust/intake blah blah.

At first, I was only throwing P1283 (for like a year). Then I got a notice a few weeks ago for inspection (I'm due by June, so I still have a little time), but I just want to get this over with.

I have a non-cat y-pipe (from Cattman also), and tried the o2 sim route, but never could get it to work. So finally I decided to install the stock y-pipe back in with the cat, and have the secondary (rear) o2 sensors extended and screwed in after the stock cat in the Y.

After the P1283 disappeared on its own for 2 months or so (with the aftermarket y installed), I am now getting P1283 and P1274 just like a lot of you guys here. I guess I'm half way there, since I am no longer getting any codes from the secondaries (P0138/9). heh

It's just weird that I'm getting both rich/lean codes for the primaries now, after putting the stock y-pipe back. I may try the Cattman y with o2 spacers, but I'm not too hopeful on that, since the codes are now for the primary a/f sensors. *shrug*

Going to check with the dealer too, regarding TSB #rs 03067/03067A

It is going in for inspection next month and I will see what the dealership has to say about it. It WAS nice NOT seeing that light for two weeks.
have you tried using the non fouler fix just to see if it works? its a long shot but its a cheap one.

That is an interesting problem for a recall. Like you....I had all of the after market goodies on for well over a year before these codes started to appear.

Keep me updated.

Can you help me with the non fouler fix? I'm not sure what that is.

Thanks!

Heh yeah... went to my dealer to schedule a regular checkup... asked them about the TSB... "Oh... we don't do TSBs." Uh, WTF.

That's what happens when all the cool guys you once knew aren't there anymore. Ugh.

At least 3 of the mechanics I know are still there. I'll have to talk to them when I take the car in for service on Tuesday.

As for the non-fouler thing, it's basically just an o2 spacer, but that's typically for the rear o2s that would throw P0138/P0139 codes. I've heard time and time again that you shouldn't use spacers on the primary a/f sensors in the header manifolds... Unless there's something else going on that I'm missing, which is totally possible. lol

Hi,
My 05 G was getting a 1273 lean B1S1 over and over, after exhausting (no pun) almost all options I remove my oil catch can (the Husky DIY) and noticed the gasket was very slightly pinched. We shall see…but part of this code is intake leak. My fingers are crossed, will keep you posted.

Just an update, this fixed my 1273 code. I passed inspection no problem. Make sure to check for leaks in the intake, vac lines!! I'm very happy now.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking it was with my Maxima as well... but I ended up trading it in for a 2010 G37xS sedan. lol

why would you ever bring your car to a dealership?? I use the same FSM that a Nissan tech would use. Only difference is they have a Nissan shirt on, and You're getting raped on price. Paying 100$ to reset codes, are you crazy? You can buy a OBDII scanner at habor freight for 40$ and reset them yourself. Or leaving the battery disconnected for 1 hour does it for FREE. You need to do some more research, unless you just like wasting money.
