Default Need Help Picking Between Shockwave dual or single

Alright guys im ready to buy a exhaust and im really having issues deciding on which one i want. I want to keep the VQ sound but have it a lot louder pretty much. Heres whats holding me up.

I like the SOUND of the shockwave single but im not to sold on the looks of it.

I like the look of the Shockwave true dual, but i dont want anything that sounds like the HKS and im worried it might sound like it. To me it makes orui car sound like a v6 camaro and i HATE it; I cant really tell from any of the VIDS bc lets face it they just dont do any exhaust justice.

i am running non-res test pipes and i do want to get the XYZ pipe w/the resonator for sure. I just cant decide on a dual or single setup. are there any suggestions?

btw, who would sell these new for the best price shipped to my door?

i have the single and i love it, its deep and loud, i just need to get TP's now. Im not crazy about the look either especially with the 5 in conical tip. I was thinking about getting the tip cut off and getting another conical tip made with a 4 in tip.

Talk to Tony from MD directly. . .

My MD single with XYZ pipe and STOCK CATS. It is almost 100dB as measured at Laguna Seca from 50' away:

If you want volume go with the single, I believe tony makes a different tip for the singles now. If you decide to go with the Dual Shockwave))) it'll come in the 2-1-2 format. The TDX (True dual) is out there but I think its still a prototype for few selected drivers (I could be wrong). Regardless if you go with either single or dual, with TP's or HFC's it will be loud...sounds nothing like an HKS. I promise you that!

Hopefully Tony can chime in on this topic and give us his advice.

Oh you don't need to go through all of that. You can simply use a different axle back section.

Have you seen the new Ti tips or the "Exhaust Component" section of the MD website? Its got pretty much everything you need to change it over.

I like the looks of the dual better then the single but the sound of the single better. I wish the single looked like the AAM or Agency power with the canister, i would for sure go with the single then. I just not a fan of the cone tip. and just a tip on one exaust doesnt look right without a canister to me so i will be going dual whenever i can afford it.

You can always do a Gamma Ti axle back with the straight midpipe.

Or you can do the Shockwave Ti with resonated midpipe.

Each system is the same (with a Ti tip) but the resonator is in a different location.

I just discovered this amazing thing called Google....

Check out this thread. It shows a Gamma exhaust on a G35. Nice thing is it shows both a dual Gamma as well as a single Gamma setup. He also has sound clips.

FWIW, from what I've been able to see, I think the dual Gamma is great. I ended up ordering the VQ exhaust system as well as a Single Shockwave with the diffuser tip. I wanted a very DD friendly and quiet exhaust. I also wanted a very free flowing exhaust to use for AutoX. So, I'll through the Shockwave single on for race days and use the VQ for the rest of the time.

Of course, I'm still waiting to take delivery....

I'll do a dyno before and after the exhaust change and post results.

As an example, this is a picture of the Harakiri Single. It uses the same midpipe as the Shockwave))) single.
This axleback section is the same part that fits on the dual. And you can do the same with the Gamma too.
All of the various single and dual parts are interchangeable with each other.

Or this

are the canisters on the Gamma straight through? I want it LOUD like the single shockwave but not look like a cone lol. Id have to go with the dual gamma though as the tip is just extended too far from the canister for it too look great as a single to me at least. Though now that i think about it and the bigger tips are out i might just go dual shockwave with the big ti tips and save a bit of money.

Straight through 3".

You could use the single mid pipe without the resonator and that will be loud.

In fact, that is the setup in the picture above.
