on a side note, you have to submerse the filter completely in water to hydrolock the motor. A little bit of rain on it isn't going to hurt.
Thanks!
Ya i know its pretty hard to lock up, but its like putting a coat on my child if there is even a chance of it being cold that day...
I was more worried about washing car than rain. I have already driven through heavy rain with open PC, but i thought when i wash, maybe hose spraying so heavy in one spot might just all waterfall down that hood vent and right onto filter....
I'm like Monk when it comes to protecting my Z, dude.
The samco intake tube has no way to use the standard bolts to hold it upright. I use a metal 80mm maf housing and with the jwt it was flopping all over the place. Function over form my friend.
Why didnt you just use the support bracket that came with JWT?
My Z tube doesnt use stock brackets, either. Instead, the JWT bracket is the only support the intake has to keep it from sagging too low.

It works perfectly. Do you not have it?
The samco tube is about 1-2" shorter and you cannot use the jwt support. I bent the **** out of it to attempt to use it and no dice. Sometime soon I will just make my own, but it isn't a high priority.

understandable. it looks pretty sweet anyways so i guess anything that gives a reason to build something for the car is a plus
I think the heat from the engine is more of a problem than the water from the hood. I have a vented hood and have not had a problem yet. Been a couple years too.
You think that will get rid of all the scratches, scuffs and all that?
If so, im on it.
I'd say wet sanding with super fine paper, then top it off by polishing with a good metal polish should give it a better appearance. You might have some fine line abrasions, but it'll be shiny and uniformed...

Thanks Vo!
Ya ill def try that out. Im happy with the overall appearence as far as cuts and bends, i even filed down the edges to be rounded and look more pro, but must do something about the finish!
Actually even thought about sending off to Tonester to get c/f wrapped...
