what are airflow sensor adapter used for and what do they do?

 

Looks like an attempt to move the MAF sensor out of the air flow, assuming the ECU will decease air-fuel ratio. Unfortunately its a oversimplification of air-fuel regulating system: other components, such as heated oxygen #1, will compensate for this trick, and set air-fuel ratio to normal range.

Want to decrease air-fuel ratio? There are better alternatives.
