Default RS*R exhaust installed

I just got RS*R exhaust installed tonight. It made 4HP to the wheels. And over all I like it. It is little loud though, but it came with the silencer so it's okay. But here is the weird thing. My car base lined at 264 hp to the wheels. And it made 268 HP with RS*R exhaust. Is it just me or the dyno number are way off? I mean, 264HP stock is way too high. The dyno was dynojet and my car is the track model. The dyno pull was at 4th gear. Anyways even though numbers are little too high, it made 4 HP over stock so I am happy.

I'll take some pics tomorrow, but here is the pic from their website.

You will get higher numbers in 4th. True 1:1 gear is 5th

I believe RS*R is coming out with a true duel though.

I have read so many times about the dual vs non dual - truth be told, it really does not have a huge impact on power - possibly just in the power band itself. there are simple rear sections (not even cat backs) that have made decent power gains over stock. the mee fact that it is a "true" dual or not IMHO has little to do with the net power gains you can expect.

if you look at motors with opposed heads, there are usually a variety of exhaust designs, featuring crosover pipes, straight pipes, ec. - all work well, they just need to be matched to the particular header, cam, etc.

I love the sound of this exhaust. It makes our car sound like European exotics. Not too deep, not too high. It is loud without the silencer, but it's perfect for me. With the silencer on the car is like stock, not loud at all. Over all, I love it.

looks great from the rear - I think with some form of lower valence, would be even better (those canisters are a bit big from the side view).

it does sound nice though, doesn't it? RSR always does

I'm considering this exhaust... not sure what headers though, I'm thinking of xerd...

would xerd headers, with RSR exhaust and gruppem intake require ECU upgrade?

If RSR comes out with a true dual, do you think it would make more hp and torque?

not likely, but you will have a very loud Z, albeit a nice sound, you just have to like it being loud..hehe

Akira, i have the identical stuff on my fairlady, just that its single sided (just on the left, seen from the back)
it looks really unique, sounds loud and great, a lot lighter than the standard muff, plus it was really cheap (40,000 JPY incl installation cost)
i cant think of putting anything else

wow, car is looking really good man!

about the dual, we are still developing the dual sound muffler for the US market. the dual sound is a competition style exhaust, currently with no silencers. If you have seen the RS-R 350z in action, you will know that this exhaust is awesome, but also has a pretty high dB rating.

we will keep ya updated on the DS Muffler.

you guys have great smilies in this forum....

Actually, you will get lower HP #'s in 4th gear. The reason why you use the gear that is closest to 1:1 is because that is where the least driveline loss will be. There will be more driveline loss in lower gears.

But wouldn't the higher multiplication factor overcome that and make the dyno think you have more power by getting up to RPM faster, or would you not get the tires to a high RPM altogether?
