Default Nismo headers...install question?

what sup folks? hope everyone had a great wkend...

i had my nismo headers installed this wkend. they sound great and can def feel the highend power BUT i guess the steering baring is just resting on one of the tubes...where the weld is...its just touching it....

result...vibration in the steering column when driving and after 3500rpm.....

those with the Nismo headers...have you encountered this slight problem...and if so how did you solve the problem...?!?

should i shave a lil off the weld...?
worse come to worse i can always have them send me another one...

thanks
eric

Several owners have mentioned this...

Looks like whomever did the NISMO headers didn't do a good enough job to make sure they didn't rub.

Headers take a LOT of time to R&D.

We saw this with the set installed on mjedens car. The nismo headers are still assembled by hand (I think) so errors are possible. You may want to see if you can adjust the steering linkage knuckle up or down a bit to clear. But that will only work if it is only off by a hair.

Mine also rub against the steering rod on hard right corners. We just gave them a little whack and it went away. You would think for as much as they cost the quality control would be a bit better.

Do you have high flow cat's or test pipes? If not that's next and your butt dyno will love it!!!

Mine vibrate as well, but only under extreme cornering (greater than 0.6 lateral g's).

Whats the best way to fix this? CAn you just whack it with a hammer, or do you need to take it to a welder?

I had to loosen the steering coupler, move the steering shaft a bit and gave it a whack with a small hammer. It is so close it really takes very little.

Do other headers have this problem too? Or just the Nismo?

I'm going to try this next time I take my cats off. My vibrations aren't bad, just noticable when I pushing the car to its limits. This fix should be quite easy to do.

Thanks
