Default Tanabe Medallion Touring+ Berk HFC

I've searched and literally only found maybe three clips of the Tanabe Medallion Touring exhaust.

I know the Tanabe is designed for 93decibals, but wanted to know/hear the difference and impressions with someone who has it installed with the Berk HFC's which will likely be my setup.

I'm not so sure about the nismo tanabe connection, but I wouldn't think so since the Nismo is much louder.

im not positive but pretty sure they are the same design and the tanabe is a knockoff of the nismo design...looks like the tanabe is the same design to me but idk..ive heard of people using the tanabe mid pipe and all on a nismo cat back

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TANAB...Q5fAccessories

^look at the design

Maybe the midpipe looks very similar, but the muffler produces a much different tone and volume level. Tanabe is low rumble vs the higher pitched Nismo. The inner packing must be different.

No combo... but my friend has Tanabe Medalion on his car. It was pretty quiet. Since I rode in it. But gave a good growl when you wanted it. I think he had nismo before. He said that was loud for him =/

But to answer your question... Might give u a little louder sound compare to just having Tanabe alone. Sorry not useful lol... never heard the two combo in person.

Tanabe has a slightly smaller mid pipe bore of around 2.75" compared to nismo's 3". Having said that both do sound very similar with the tanabe maybe being slightly louder. My nismo is nice and has a nice tone to it but it's dead silent below 2500 revs. I'm thinking of getting some resonated test pipes or hfc too. I think the tanabe with berks would sound very good

I have the Hypers spec and i love the sound. BTW the Tanabe setups are not cheap and actually priced closely to the Nismo setups so i would not call them a knockoff.

2.75 mid pipe would create some resonance with the Berk Hfc's no? Probably not an ideal situation

I wouldn't have thought so. Would depend on the y-pipe which the berks connect to. From memory the berks are around 2.5" and stock y inlet is 2.36" but most aftermarket y-pipes inlet is 2.5" so would match up perfectly. Are you using the stock y-pipe or tanabe y-pipe? I know the tanabe y-pipe is not normally included with their system and has to be ordered in addition. It is one of the best quality ones around. I would go for it as the sound really will be worth it not to mention the extra grunt your car will have

Berk's are infamous for hiss aren't they?

as for the Y-pipe I might go with a cheaper option as im dropping some dough on Spacer/exhaust/HFC's all at once.

http://www.tanabe-usa.com/exhausts/files/220_img3.jpg

Tanabe doesn't list piping size? the exhaust is 70mm So the mid-pipe must be 70mm.

Am I going to have a problem running this size piping off of the Cats?

Z1 sells this exhaust and has good info about the piping size: http://www.z1auto.com/prodmore.asp?m...st&prodid=3974 They also sell the Y-pipe.

The Tanabe y pipe uses 2 - 60mm (2.36) piping merging to 70mm and the straight pipe is 70mm to the exhaust!
