Default Videos: Borla Single Catback & Topspeed Test Pipes

I thought I'd post these videos of my setup since there seems to be no other sound clips of the old style Borla Single Catback Exhaust (although it has been discontinued for several years now). I just picked it up used, and it sounded really good with the popcharger, but just slightly louder than stock. Added some Topspeed Test Pipes and now it screams. Felt a nice HP increase after the test pipes too. I'm very happy with the setup!

Here's a question for you "experts" out there... I have a slight rattle at around 2000 rpms which, from what I can tell, is coming from under the car near the recently installed test pipes. Everything is tight, and it doesn't appear to be a leak. None of the pipes are touching a heat shield or anything. My only guesses at this point are the resonators inside the test pipes, or a washer that I lost during installation, which hopefully didn't end up inside the exhaust! You can hear it in the 3rd video as the revs come down. It sounds a little like a penny rattling in a metal tray... any ideas?

Didn't know Borla's had much rasp. Guess test pipes can bring out the worst in any exhaust?

The "tingy" rattle sound is normal with test pipes at low RPM's.

The H-pipe on the Borla is known to rasp after test pipe install. Replacing with Magnaflow X-pipe unit cures this.

take the test pips off it sounds so much better without them. The rasp just messes up the sound

The hiss is normal with Test pipes from the research I have done. I have the same thing with mine. I hate it and will probably take off the test pipes because of it.

I agree, the exhaust note was a little deeper and smoother without the test pipes, but it actually wasn't much louder than the stock exhaust which isn't very apparant in the videos. It's a night and day difference with the test pipes, and sounds much better IMO, especially under WOT. I was quite surprised how much power I picked up on the top end also, as verified by the never failing butt dyno.

As for the rattle, I actually haven't noticed it all week under normal driving conditions (since the install), and is probably only noticable while parked and revving the engine. I'll actually have to check next time to see if it is still there. Any rasp I picked up is very minimal, only noticable in 5th/6th gear at full throttle at low rps with the windows up. I think the borla does a great job masking it. Overall the car sounds and feels great and I am pretty happy with the setup which only cost me a little under $400. Next mod down the road will have to be a manifold/spacer upgrade.

I just bought my exhuast last week and i kinda feel deceived. I thought it was gonna have that mean v6 growl to it but no, in fact my stock exhuast probobly sound's better.
Im thinking i should get test pipes for it and maybe that will bring out the sound IDK.
Anybody have any suggestion's????????
