Arrow test pipes or headers??

hey guys i have an 06 350z with a hks exhaust and i love the sound! but im real curious to see if i do headers or resonated test pipes how it'll sound and how much more power it'll make. i hate the raspy sound so i want to keep that deep sound but maybe alittle louder with more power gains. im willing to do just the headers and keep my cats if its not raspy. please let me know what you guys think...or if you think the gains arn't worth the sound difference then i'll just leave it the way it is. thanks!

unless you're doing a heavy built NA or going to FI then headers are a waste. Cost per benefit are way down the hole. Say 800$ for headers and at least 500$ (more like 1000$) for a shop to install it.

also, headers really won't change your exhaust note. Test pipes will. Test pipes are simple to install, not expensive so they are good bang for buck.

I would do test pipes and spend the extra money on a dynotune. With both of those you'll still be well below the total cost to have headers put on.

without a tune you will probably lose power. headers that will show decent gains NA are going to cost a lot because it takes a lot of R&D to design a perfect flowing header.

Not worth the money, much in the same way by putting a useless tow hook on your car

Headers would be a waste of money for what your getting, so go with the HFC.

dont waste ur money with the headers (minimal gains and a pain in the *** to put on or if u are gonna pay someone to do it will cost u way more than its worth)...test pipes will give good gains though for sure and easy install...go with the new art pipes they seem to keep thiings quieter like high flows and perform better than test pipes...pricey though

thanks guys on the help! ok so basicly dont do headers. as for test pipes does brand matter or as long as they're resonated? i really dont want to get the raspy sound...i've looked at art pipes also and im very interested in those but ya its comparing 250 bucks vs 650 bucks! lol but we'll see what people say i may have to save up for those

test pipes for sure. Dont be surprised if its a little raspy though. I've installed headers. Nothing but a PITA!! Just be sure to spend the money on some good resonated test pipes. Preferably some with mounting brackets. (not all test pipes have them)

^^wolfman above .my berk high flow carts cracked right at the mounting brackets on both sides, so i wouldnt be caught up on ones that have mounting brackets..test pipes dont weigh very much so they dont need them for the most part

I have crawford headers (won them, didn't buy them) sounds only slightly louder and could feel the hp difference and got better gas mileage

I would never get test pipes b/c of the sound and legality, but would consider HFCs
