I think the exhaust does almost nothing, that was the point of my post. If an exhaust is supposed to make HP, most racers will tell you 10HP= 0.1 second=more than a car length in the quarter mile. However while dynos may show a peak of 10 (or whatever number you choose, I don't wish to debate the number) the exhaust doesn't make power over a broad enough band to have any meaningful effect in a race, that is my point.

I don't think I am a great driver, although you are the second person to suggest that my mad driving skills was the reason for his less than stellar runs. Differences in 1/4 miles times are affected primarily by the launch technique, so from a rolling start your large spread in 1/4 mile times vanishes.

He wasn't a kid either, looked to be in his twenties. Kind of a big head, short hair. I wish someone read this that knew the guy, I want to know what his stickers were and if he has any other mods. It was the first 350Z I have raced and it was a lot of fun.

Why did Injen make the exhaust angled like that? Looks like to me. I don't care if it adds 100 horsepower, I wouldn't bother driving a Z around the block with that exhaust on it.

 

And I wouldn't drive around the block with those 7 spoke 17's you are representing.....

Just to give you a head up 2003z, the reason why I said that was to exhibit that Mikestro's Z was not neccessarily faster, and that that each driver was doing behind the wheel plays a part, rolling start or not.

And then to make fun of travs_z because he has the 17" wheels while you have the almighty 18"... lest I forget you are better than everyone... please sir, kindly remove your cranium from your rectum.

*edit. IMO the angled exhaust looks terrible. I would much rather have 17s and stock exhaust than the honda-esque look of the Injen SES.

 

Simple fact is no one (at least here) knows how Mikestro drives. Just like Mikestro doesn't know how the guy he raced (in the PPW) drives. So what is the point? There is no reason to come in and start bashing an exhaust because you don't like the way it looks or because you beat a guy who happened to have that exhaust on his car. If you don't like it then don't buy it. We all own Z's so where's the love?

if I see the guy again, I will flag him down and get some more details about his car. Let's look at it another way, once we both shifted in to 3rd, we had a long time (relatively speaking) where we were in the same gear and doing the same thing (pushing on the pedal on the right) and he remained the exact same distance behind me. The second time was identical.

If he missed a shift or I am the shift king of the world, I would have seen him drop back at some point, that never happened.
