Default Which exhaust NOT to get

Which exhaust has two separate mufflers that point to the rear of the vehicle at about 15 degree angle (left to right, not down)? Is there more than one brand that looks like that?

The reason I am asking is that I raced a PPW Z yesterday in my bone stock Z and I am fairly sure this exhaust wasn't doing him any favors. (the two stickers on his window didn't seem to be helping either).

Must've been the exhaust and not the driver Doesn't matter either way because Injen just said that the angled exhaust is no longer being produced.

I have never understood the "driver" comments with regard to straight line racing. Just push on the pedal on the right and shift quickly. (we raced from a rolling start)

Mike- Ahhh, thanks for the info. I did a search for Injen and that is indeed the exhaust he had.

You would think- but a dirver can miss a gear or just suck at shifting, if you went from a roll one driver could be in a higher gear etc. Many factors.
BTW Mikestro- Sorry to get off topic- Do you know a huge 6'4, 270 lbs guy by the name of Juan D. by chance? Some guy I used to know when I hung around Vista/San Marcos. Just thought I'd ask.

Know him? He owes me $15. If I see that SOB, his *** is mine!!

Just kidding.

Damn, I wish I could have seen what the stickers said on that dude's Z, anyone know a PPW Z in North County San Diego? It was as Asian guy. Is Asian politically correct? Or is it Asian american or something? Technically Russia is in Asia also, so I have always thought Asian was a little too broad of a term to describe race.

The Injen dual exhaust is one of the best in performance gains out of all of the exhausts currently out... I have one on my Z and I love it... I have seen other members dynos showing 14-17 HP gains. I don't know why you would think this exhaust hindered the other drivers performance?

if it was making power, he should have gained on me in our 0-100mph sprints (we raced twice), he didn't.

Maybe his car is heavier. A full tank of gas can add ~130 lbs to the car.

my tank was near full and I have a basslink and amp and weigh 180lbs. He also had 17" rims which should be less rotating mass than my car, if you want to get technical

Wow, are you that naive ???

How do you know that he was bringing his rpms all the way up to 6700 in each gear? Answer....U DON'T ! I take off at streetlights lots of times when I am in the mood to drive spirited and upshift when I reach ~4,000 rpms because I don't feeel like making an all out assault. Is there just a slim possibility that this Asian fellow was doing the same to some extent ?

You are probably one of those guys that gets next to a brand new Lamborghini and then takes off when the light turns green and automatically thinks his car his faster, even though the other car wasn't trying.

And for the comment, "What's there to it, just step on the right pedal and shift"......LMAO. You obviously know very little about racing and the variables that can come into play (Launching, clutch realease timing, etc.). Or, you just have an automatic...one of the 2. People on this forum with the same exact trim level/stock 350z's have taken their car to the track to do a STRAIGHT LINE 1/4 mile run and have gotten times from 13.7 - 14.5. Reason for this = DRIVER SKILL LEVEL.

The injen, stillen and borla setups are the 3 best hp producing exhausts out there right now. None of them are going to make your car go slower. Comprende ???

Looking foward to seeing more of your kill list in the future.....

yeah, he was probably just casually accelerating to 100, at the exact same rate as I was. But since he had that killer exhaust, he only had to give it half throttle to keep up.

You don't know anything about me, I have built several engines in my day and have raced plenty of times. The only skill in straight line racing is the launch and shifting...and if you can't shift a manual, you have bad hand/eye coordination.

I mentioned that we raced from a rolling start, try reading before replying. I also mentioned shifting, which should have been your first clue that I have a manual transmission.

IMHO Cannibalism is only done by Honda owners right?? Unless its a friend or relative with the same vehicle then its ok to go at it. If you say what you say then there is no reason to doubt your word. I think people get a little butt hurt when they feel your hating on the content of the vehicle. The little I know an exhaust doesnt really add that much in way of times improved.

Then what are you b*itching about in the first place ?

If you are such a master mechanic and have built many engines then do you really think an exhaust (whatever the brand) is going to make one Z so noticably quicker than a stock one to the point where he is just going to pull car length after car length away from you ?

And I don't care what you say Andretti, rolling start or not, there is still some driver skill involved and you will never know whether he was taking his rpms as high as you were.

Just do me a favor and don't hate on the Injen SES just becasue you are mad that an Asian kid's exhaust drowned out the sound of your Brtiney Spears CD going through your Basslink when you were trying to beat him in a race. k?

Do NOT forget, all cars/Z's are NOT created equal!

I'm lucky, I think I got a good one!

I've tracked mine a few times......road coarses, not 1/4 mile. In 4th gear pulls, I've "Raced" 2 other Z's, both slightly modded, mine stock, and both other drivers commented that I was able to pull away. Not by much, but notably. And, no, I can't definitively explain. Maybe, I broke mine in better? Maybe I just got a "better" built one? MUST have been the tow hook I ran with!

BTW.....they both were track models.....with, what, .1 less aero drag.

I am not doubting that the Asian kid's Z didn't beat him.

I just don' t like the way he is running his mouth, starting a thread entitled , "What exhaust not to get" beacause he raced another stock Z + exhaust, and didn't get his doors blown off.
