New Plenum vs. Spacer
Kinetix Plenum (NOT SSV) or Motordyne spacer? Both are about the same ($250ish) I'm not considering going F/I in the future so Cosworth is not worth it for me.
So far Kinetix is winning because it looks like you actually did something. Still looks stock with the spacer. Can you keep stock strut bar with spacer? You can with Kinetix plenum. Which one yields better power gains?
If you do recommend I go with a spacer, is it the Motordyne 5/16? What other options are there?

Thanks for the tip. I have a 2006 so that means I have a "rev-up" and I need to change my lower plenum before I even think about getting a spacer. Looks like I need to buy an MREV 2 first.
Ok so now I have a new question...
If I'm supposed to get an MREV2 ($400ish) first because then I won't really see gains from a spacer ($250) does it now become worth it for me to get the Kinetix SSV ($750). It replaces upper & lower plenums, looks sweet, AND clears factory strut bar.

Honestly man, it seems like looks is pretty high on the list for what you're looking for. So just get the SSV, it's not great, but then nothing really is for cheap N/A anyways.
Then I would swap out the exhaust, and run test pipes or hfc's, then get the car reflashed.
By the time you get that far, you'll have a pretty good idea of what you're looking to get out of the Z. Hell you'll probably end up selling it and buying a WRX or EVO.

My goals with the car are to keep it clean, and just make it a little quicker with a mean sounding exhaust. Just trying to improve upon what the factory I feel the factory should have done in the 1st place. No show car or drag strip aspirations. No F/I dreams either. Those died during my new car search 2 months ago. I was looking for a EVO, WRX, and daytona blue roadster. You can tell which one I ended up with.
Thanks for all of the great advice. I currently have AEM CAI & DC Sports headers installed. Berk HFC's on order. I have my eye on a Stillen Y-pipe. I know I want to go single exit exhaust, just trying to decide between JIC and Greddy.

On the forum? Click the Marketplace tab up top, and they are usually in Intake or Engine. I'm not sure on vendors for Motordyne, but I think they sell direct, or use to anyway.
Yeah man no worries.

I have an '06 as well and at one time installed the MREV2 and 5/16th spacer. I really liked the combination but removed it to be able to run in stock class for AutoX. You will still be able to use the stock strut bar with this combination. The support from Motordyne is very good and their products are quality. The installation is pretty straightforward and you can easily do it yourself with just a little time and care.
If I ever decide to not run stock AutoX, I'll buy another MREV2 and 5/16th spacer in a heartbeat.

Thank you for your helpful and informative insight. You could have easily flamed me for being a n00b and forgetting to use the search function. It looks like the MREV2 and 5/16th spacer will be next on the to do list after my Stillen Y-pipe and single exit (still undecided) exhaust.
