Default Random Tech Cats Facts no BS

Well here is the No BS facts about the Random Technology Cats.

Put them in just before SEMA on my Injen Cai/Stillen Dual Cat back exhaust .5AT Cs 03 w/8000 mi Sound levels taken with a Radio Shack Digital Sound Level Meter.

Dynoed 11/1 229.6 HP 230.4 tq interior dB 92 at 3000 rpm exterior 104 dB at 6500 rpm at 15ft.

Cats added, car driven 850 mi to and from Vegas.

Dynoed 11/10 237.4 hp 240.3 tq
run 2 done in 3rd gear instead of 4th
243.4 hp 235.7 TQ

interior dB 94 at 3000 rpm exterior 110 dB at 6500 rpm

Tests done on the same Dynojet on different days but in the same weather and conditions

Stock Cats 25 lbs per pair, Randons 10.8 per pair

Ok now for opinion. awesome The best investment, in power I've made to date. Heads jerk and car hops run to take the car away. You've really got to get these. Down pipes and test pipes accually loose power because of a turbalence and swiraling of gases in the pipe before exiting ,a kind of back vacuum were as the randoms redirect them in a streight direct fashion out the tail pipe.

The sound is full and robust not just loud, it's an unmistakable sound of power.

Much thanks to Jeff and Jenny @ Performance Nissan for getting me these quickly and having them professionally installing with the greatest of ease.... You guys are the best and I got the Forum Good Guy Price TOO...... Make your own conclusions is XX horse power worth it ....oh ya....

Just put mine on last week too. I had headers and Injen SES prior to the RT cats. When the cats were installed there was a extremely noticeable jump in power. I'm hoping to get to the dyno next week.
Overall I'm very happy with the RT cats (Thanks to Jeff and Jenny as well ). The sound is incredible, although very, very loud with the Injen exhaust. MGV156 took some sound clips today so whenever he sends them to me I'll post them.
I would also highly recommend the RT's for anyone who's done headers and exhaust. A great investment!

I have heard that the RT cats have vibration problems and an annoying raspy sound. Is this true?

Define Raspy the Cats definately have attitude. I was the first one to ride in Jeff's car and reported it was overly loud and not to my taste. but since he found it was laying against a X member of his car. Preformance Nissan now ships spacer and shims with the Cats they sell and I had them put them in so I 'do'nt know if they used them or not all I know it they sound BADDDDD and thats not just my opinion.

No vibration at this moment and a idle you can't hear any difference at all. But step on the gas. Oh baby..........

Aren't we supposed to be dyno'ing in 5th gear? Closer to the 1:1 ratio?

You missed it was a 5at (Auto ) not a 6 speed. 6 speeds are in 5th and autos and in 4th but funny my best #s were in 3rd at a lesser gear ratio.. Go figuare...

actually hes just bout right on that. the down pipes actually give way to littl backpressure, which is perfect for a FI car but not so good for a NA car.

The RT Cats have no problems with Vibrations or any Raspy Sounds.

The TEST PIPES (Straight pipes) are raspy sounding.

Jason. Can you guys just sell the spacers and shims seperately for the cats?

What do the spacers / shims look like and do they bolt onto anything?

Thanks.

Michael.

We send you four of these and they bolt directly to the cross brace.

The spacer looks like a 2 prong fork.

It does not make any adjustments to the car. And not all cars need these. But most will.

Jason. I bought my cats from a local atlanta company called NFC motorsports. But I am more than willing to buy the spacers and shims by themselves. I have a slight vibration.

Cool, I was thinking along those lines as well.

Thanks Jason!
