Default Plenum Spacer vs Pop Charger?

I was thinking about doing these mods but was wondering which is more bang for the buck. I have nismo exhaust, a kinetix upper plenum cover, and a K&N Filter. I want a nicer sound and I wouldn't mind the extra performance. I was looking at a JWT pop charger and a 5/16'' plenum spacer. From what I have read the spacer would take a bit more labor to instal because the strut needs to be modified, while the pop charger is more plug and play(and is much cheaper). If you had to choose one which would you get?

Should have done more research before adding Kinetix upper plenum.

OEM upper plenum with spacer is a better choice. What will be the result of Kinetix upper plenum plus spacer? Not certain.

Go back to your stock plenum and buy a spacer.

Well you already have the Kinetix upper and YES its just fine. It produces right at, the same power as the spacer but its more expensive. So the popcharger is your choice. Its a great, mod for the money.

Waits for the heat soak idiots to chime in.

The upper plenum came with the car when i bought it. The guy said that it didn't make much of a power difference but the car ran cooler. Also I'm in hawaii and the salt air just eats up the finish on the stock upper plenum.

So a spacer with the kinetix plenum is no good, or won' fit?

You will have to go back about 6 years and look at plenum versus spacer threads. Then make an informed decision.

What year is your Z?

For 2003-2005 I believe 5/16" plenum spacer is good on its own, but for 2006 (revup motor) I was told that the most gains to be had were by using 5/16" spacer along with MREV2 lower plenum / manifold (Motordyne products).

Initially I had the pop charger and did notice some small gain (or maybe just more noise?) at higher revs. After about a year I installed the motordyne 5/16" spacer and MREV2 lower plenum and the result was noticeably more pickup in the mid RPM range and higher. I have run both the OEM intake and popcharger in conjunction with the spacer and lower plenum upgrades and I believe the most gains were realized with the plenum mods.

I think it's going to depend on how many bucks you want to spend for the bang.
