Talking Final Imputs On New Exhaust!

Alright boys it comes a time in a man's life when he's gotta go fast...real fast. With this said I've come to the conclusion on my exhaust setup but as any man with half a brain may know it never hurts to ask I currently have the Injen SES TD exhaust and plan on ordering me some Alphawerks Headers and top em off with some Ichiba Resonated Test Pipes. Please give me any comments/remarks/thumbs up/thumbs down or whatever so that I know this is gonna be a good bish!

...and before anyone asks, yes I do have a plenum (Kinetix V+), yes I do have an air intake (CF tube with JWT popcharger), and yes I do have a CF air duct. Just want a complete setup

Thanks guys!

I guess you hadn't done much research before reaching this final decision. Oh well....

Exhaust gives minimal gains, don't expect it to make you go that much faster

For the expense, install time and effort, most people recommend NOT doing headers as the gains there are minimal.

Dayum that's a kick in the pants but I appreciate the comment! Well I still plan on getting test pipes and the header install does not bother me but... If you had ~$1200 to spend on performance what would you get??

that would depend on

what year car you have
what mods are currently done
what your ultimate goals are

Shoot I almost forgot!

-2004 VQ35DE, Red
-Kinetix V+ Plenum, JWT Popcharger with CF intake tube and air duct, Injen SES TD Exhaust
-ATM...speed speed speed!

EDIT: Should also note my initial plan was to install a full intake, then exhaust, then tune but I'll have to see what you more knowledgeable guys say!

but what are your ultimate goals with the car? bolt ons? built motor? NA, or FI?

truth be told, I'd ditch the plenum, get yourself a spacer, for the test pipes, the Ichiba ones are a bit small for your Injen IMHO - I'd go with something 2.5 inch (Turbo XS are nice, and inexpensive, and fit well). Resonated or not, your exhaust is gong to be LOUD with test pipes. High flow cats would be the best overall compromise...better flow and performance vs stock cats, not nearly as loud as full test pipes.

headers - I personally wouldn't bother on a non revup unless you've got cams planned down the road. Instead may want to focus on suspension, exterior, etc

Oh...I want to stay NA. My goal is to get 300+whp one day Yeah I kinda figured they were a little too small for the exhaust but I'd really rather have resonated TP because the ridiculous raspyness/crackling of straight pipes makes me want to kill myself when I hear it. Do you know of any resonated TP's that are 2.5 inch?? I'm doing little by little atm but my focus was to top off performance with a full intake/exhaust, then exterior, then suspension. Thanks for the reply!

your 'resonated test pipes' are going to be loud too - they aren't a cure all, particularly on a true dual exhaust. It's going to rasp, it's going to be loud. Want to avoid that, or at least minimize it, stick to high flow cats

Oh I want it loud but it's the raspyness I want to stay away from in which I thought resonated TP's help tone it down a bit?

very true... only reason i threw on headers and had an exhaust fabbed up was because we were putting in a new motor/transmission and the car was gutted and on the lift..

otherwise - i wouldn't have bothered.

anyway - if you really want to have a "setup" - figure out what you're setting it up for and go from there... and actually do research and not just post another "soooo..... uhhhhhhh.... what' the best exhaust EVAR?!?!?!" thread...

I can tell you one thing - the greddy exhausts are poopy... at least the POS that was on my car when i got it... just check out the difference between greddy's y-pipe versus the fabricated one:

by the way - do suspension before body work.. 350z already look nice how they sit body wise (in my opinion).... no to mention it'll look retarded if you have body work done and nothing done to the suspension

again - these are all just my opinions here - it's your jam, do what you like

Thanks but I did do my research, I'm going to N/A route that is why I wanted to do a full exhaust.

@Z1 Performance- How would you rate the Megan Racing Test Pipes? I see they are resonated and have a 2.25" ID and a 2.5" OD...thoughts??

I know - but i was referring to what Z1 was saying.. he's right.. you figured out you want to do N/A - but what else? i was just saying to keep in mind what you ultimately want to do with everything...

and wasn't trying to sound like a dick, sorry bud ..

all to often kids are just asking what's the coolest thing out there versus doing some searching and saying "I'm thinking about A, B or C.... trying set my car up for _________ or trying to get _____ power... need help.. go!"

you thinking of an off the shelf exhaust or fabricated?

That is a coincidence. This 350Z ran Injen SES TD exhaust, Alphawerks Headers and test pipes.

Nah it's all good I just hate it when people assume you don't know 2 *****! Seeing as I already have the Injen I think money and time wise a shelf exhaust would be the best thing. Also don't know of anyone who can fabricate good around Dallas Being as I am (fairly dead set on completing exhaust) what would you have done? I'm curious to hear other people's opinion...thanks for all the help btw.
