I just received my Random Tech high flow cats from Performance Nissan this morning. Needless to say, they were on the Z a short time later. Thanks again for the great deal Jeff. These cats are great and complete the sound that I've been looking for. For those of you that don't know, to date, I have only modest mods = Injen CAI, Borla TD, grounding kit, Random Tech Cats. So far, I am very pleased. Supercharger (to be named later) to be added shortly. ONE QUESTION, my "SERVICE ENGINE SOON" light came on while driving home from work a few hours after the cats were installed. I am almost positive that it has something to do with the O2 sensors connected to the Cats. Is there a problem and how do I remedy the situation? The Z is running very strong with no hints of any problems (other than the light comming on). Is there a simply resolution? Any help is appreciated. Thanks is advance.
Whoa, I'll be getting my RT Cats here soon, and I was planning on getting them installed right away. This is the first I've heard of this. I mean I kept my fingers crossed when I first installed my Popcharger that the check engine light wouldn't come on, especially after reading about one (and only one) person mentioned getting it. And thankfully the light didn't come on. Should I be getting on my hands and knees and pray to the car gods to keep the check engine light from coming on when I have a shop install the Cats?

You didnt have them installed at performance did you?
I hope I hope I hope your installer did not damage the O2 sensors when installing them. That is the only time any service light goes on because of the cats.

My guess is either the O2 sensor(s) got damaged or they didn't get re-connected properly. I would check the connectors frst and also try resetting the ECU. I have had them on for about 300 miles and so far haven't had any problems. (other than them being louuuud
but I asked for it, so...)

I had the Cats installed in the Detroit area. I absolutely hope that the O2 sensors were not damaged during the install. I will follow up with the installer and/or my Nissan dealer to see whats up. In the mean time, does this SES light effect performance in any way or is it just a signal to the driver to take the car in for research/repair?

get under there and see for yourself. hell, maybe they forgot to put the sensors back on! i have never used a "02 sensor socket", just an open-end wrench, and have had no problems whatsoever, but do be careful handling the sensor.
