bumper duct & direct air tube
After searching for a while i think im gonna stick with the my stock revup air box with a drop in filter. Everyone says the same "little to no gains" or even "a loss of power" with aftermarket intakes and I have read the revup air box is superior to the rest of the DE's. my question is does anyone have the bumper duct with the direct air tube like this one from evo-r http://www.evo-r.net/product/CAI/tube/index.htm ? Any water ingestion problems?
This air tube was popular years ago, but have not seen it in awhile. Square bumper holes plus tube sounds like a good idea. Can you look forward to, say, a 10 percent increase in horsepower? No way.
didnt know this, has this been proven? Its not like i thought i would do this and see a huge increase in power or anything, i know enough about bikes and cars to know intake gains are minimal but cutting my bumper up for no benefit in performance is not what i had in mind.
I think it helps at higher speeds by allowing more air and/or cooler air, or at least that's what my butt dyno says.

The other style (Nismo V2) i have and will do some data logging with once i get it installed on my car.
BTW bikes were designed to draw ram air, if the Z was, the duct would be in a different location.
Someone else did data logging with the duct, no difference in intake temp. Then if you look at the factory aero (you can find wind tunnel pics) the flat face of the bumper deflects air over the spot where the duct is. You would need to use a Vortex generator of some kind to break the air up to get it into the duct.

Oh trust me i know all about ram air on bikes. Besides upgrades like changing out my velocity stacks for my throttle bodies i have done mods to the air box and I have been all though the ram air tubes on my busa and replaced the seals after a mole chewed my seals and made a nest of my chewed up seals and straw next to my power commander under my rear hump.
