Default Y-pipe/ mid-pipe

I'm looking to buy a y-pipe and a mid-pipe for my 08 350z to go with the greddy se exhaust. But I'm not sure if the mid-pipe comes with the y-pipe when I buy the y-pipe, or do they come separately and I need to buy them separately?

I'm a little confused because when I looked up Y-pipes, it seems like the mid-pipe is already connected on on the y-pipe..... -_-

A Y pipe and a mid pipe are 2 totally different things

The Greddy SE is meant to bolt to the stock mid pipe. I'm not even aware of any aftermarket mid pipes being made

The Greddy Spectrum Elite is an axle-back exhaust so it retains the stock mid and y pipe. Some exhausts are cat back (HKS) and they replace the rear section, mid and y-pipe and some are y-pipe back(Tanabe and nismo) so they replace the mid pipe and rear section.

I see... So if I want a better exhaust flow for performance then the greddy se is not the way to go?

Because I thought I can get the greddy se to get a couple of performance gain if I get the y-pipe/mid pipe and HFC...
Sorry I'm new at this stuff.

motordyne has aftermarket mid pipes off the top of my head and i know there are others also.

but as far as the op...do some research and then decide..get something that replaces the stock y pipe mid pipe and tail section..imo leave the stock cats alone unless u know what u are getting into...

the greddy SE is primarily for sound/looks at a budget, since it retains the mid/y pipe. It's just a replacement muffler. Sounds and looks very nice, but is affordable

i got mine for 525 shipped...looks amazing...retains vq note, a tad deeper...put some HFC's and it really opens it up...i wasnt looking for huge gains, all im worried about is looks and sound. so if your worried about straight up numbers then the SE isnt for you

I see, thanks guys. Yea I'm going for look as well, and just a bit performance because I want to keep this z running as long as possible.
Ok, it looks like I don't need a y/mid-pipe anymore. I'll look up HFC then if that's the only thing that will do something.
Thanks guys. I learned quite a bit today. Lol

I have the Greddy SE with the motordyne xyz-pipe(with resonator), stock midpipe and stillen HFC. I get a little rasp when its cold but I do get a lot of compliments as far as look and sound. This summer I want to get the rest of the motordyne exhaust. I need a change.

no base dyno but it dynoed at 249whp dynojet. but without a base dyno that # is useless. I'm thinking about getting a custom 3" mid-pipe made without resonator.
