I actually looked for an exhaust that was relatively quiet, had the look of the OEM, flowed better, etc much like you. I currently have the APS's 2.5" true dual and it fits my criteria (very similar, if not the same, to your criteria).

Your custom exhausts look very nice. In for sound clips.

I have never heard the Borla exhaus on the VQ, I am sure it sounds great. The other very important fact that I did not mention is that my exhast must bolt up to the OEM Y-pipe. This is how the turbo kit is built.

I did have a look at those, but thought that the body length was too short for a 5" OD resonator. I also had a look at the Vibrant "Ultra quiet" series, and thought that the may be a bit on the small side.

Yeah, it's a heavy duty unit. Here is the thread:

https://my350z.com/forum/forced-indu...-inside-3.html

I have not had even the slightest hint of wheel hop since I installed it. This includes the drag strip.

Do you find this to be abnormal? I've had the whole APS single turbo setup including the exhaust with testpipes and it's quieter than stock...

I've heard this APS 2.5" TD exhaust (I believe there's at least one other version of the 2.5" TD) on a APS TT 350Z, Vortech 350Z, and my Z with juice. It's definitely quieter than stock on all applications in most situations (daily driving, not WOT).

i used the round 16" body dynomax with the same results. cleaned up the sound nicely. i woulda went longer but they didnt have anything bigger in 3" in/out. It was also 1/2 the price of the magnaflow.

I thought about it, but there is already a ton of exhausts out there for the Z.

Hey Sasha....any reason you didn't go with a 5" diameter resonator with 3" inlet/outlet to avoid the modifications you had to do?
Do you have a part# for the one you used?

I did not think the 5" (14" long body) would be enought to do the job. If I could have found an 18-20" long resonator that was 5" diameter, I would have tried it first.

This is the one I have on the car now:

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=9102

If I was to do this over again (for a customer), this is the muffler I would use in the back:

http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=9059

I have the same one now (size wise) but the inlet/outlets are configured differently.

Since its not going into production I want to have it replicated...May I ask how much you took off the resonator and how far back do you mount it from the turbo?

If there are requests for it, I can make a few kits since it would not be hard to duplicate this.

I took about 1" off, making it a 5" resonator on the side that was cut. You can see in the pictures where it sits, I would say it is about 2" downstream from the turbo. It just fits between the rear skid plate, and the rear sway bar.

Looks like the weather will get better (6 straight days of rain now) tomorrow, so I will try to get a sound clip made.

can you explain more what the longer resonator does and why you wanted a long one?
