Just buy something used, there are plenty of used ones available for cheap. Also there are plenty of exhausts that give you the OEM look when installed.

Tanabe
Borla
Fast Intentions
and many more.

Take it from me, if you love your car gets the best you can for her, don't be scared of the price. People pay for whats worth it (also because of bandwagoning). Bottom line is do your hw on here and you'll find that Motordyne is the only way to go.
From what I read online I saw that the ART pipes were pretty highly reccomended, but then you see the price... if I have to spend that much for quality pipes I may just scratch that idea and put the money towards an exhaust custom or aftermarket

pay to play man. I have helix which are discontinued. Iv had AAM and they sucked. But i also had Nismo exhaust so that was probably why they cracked. Look at it this way fork out 600$ NEW if you cant find used now and have some of the best tp for life or buy 1-200$ which could crack and u will have to take off buy new and reinstall

Looks like you're as cheap as I am lol. I'm not in it just for the sound. I actually don't want it too loud, but I want the stock exhaust to flow more for a few more HP. I bought a flowmaster 80 series style muffler (flowsound on ebay for $50 shipped) and 4" Magnaflow SS angled tips. I'm going to have a muffler shop recreate the stock axleback with that setup. It should sound better than the muffler delete mod. Search "G35 flowmaster 80 series" or "350z flowmaster 80 series" and you'll see it actually sounds decent. I also got high temp header paint and primer in cast iron gray so it hides and protects the look of it lol. I haven't gotten it together yet but I'll let you guys know how it looks and sounds when I do!

I think I have decided I don't want it too loud, just a 20% or so increase, I really like the Stillen exhaust with the smaller increase.

I think all I am willing to pay at this point is a few hundred, thus the post - I think the best way to achieve that would be Test Pipes but can anyone reccomend test pipes under 200? Seems like everyone is claiming anything less than motordyne is crap.. for more than 200 I will take a hammer and punch to my cats and hollow them out for free!

when i first bought my z, i took off my stock set up for my greddy. i was checking out my stock muffler. it was actually a flowmaster with the stock z tips welded onto it. i thought it was stock the whole time. it does give a nice tone, little bit louder than stock. might be something to look into.

Thats pretty sweet, pretty much what I was thinking when I first posted this question. So was it a 3 inlet/outlet flowmaster? Did it pretty much fit right in how the old stock one did, is that how they had it setup?

Brah did you totally miss my post earlier? Lol it's a Flowmaster 80 series 2.5" in/dual out. I bought a "Flowsound" muffler in that config on ebay for $50 shipped. It's basically a copy as Flowmaster lost their patent a while ago. It's a Camaro like crossflow muffler design. Magnaflow and Borla have one also but this is more cost effective. Also youtube G35/FX/350z flowmaster all day for clips. You can reuse your tips but I bought Magnaflow 4" ss tips just in case I wanna go back to stock.

You gotta pay to play man. And about the M2 HKS knock off. It's one of the better HKS knock off, there are some reviews of it floating around. I have it and it sounds loud as *****. But then again i only bought it to do the magnaflow mod.
