It does settle in, mines just at 1000 miles and it's still settling down in some of the aspects.

I'd get a new v-band if it's not clamping properly, i know that they will hold the exhaust hard and fast, but it doesn't mean that the two pipes are meeting up perfectly, be careful when assembling.

Your other option is the HFC section, loss is about 1-2 HP as it's spread over two 3 inch pipes and they're high flow. I think mine works great for a DD.

well i actually already have HFC on my car (dont have the Art pipes)

and wouldnt the HFC section actually quiet down the exhaust even more? I actually dont mind how it sounded when the exhaust was first put in my car

the vband clamp right where the helmholtz mufflers are is loose. Would an exhaust leak there cause the volume to go down?

The reason im asking is because I have the TDX v2 now and when i first put it on it was pretty darn loud, at all RPMs. its been about a week now and it seems alot quieter in all RPMs.

I bought mine USED however, so its already been through the break in process so I'm not sure why it would quiet down again. I have a V-band clamp that is bent and is loose. Would this be a cause of it quieting down? Or am I just used to the sound now?
Perhaps you got used to how loud the TDX2 is

When I first got mine, I thought "man this thing is loud with stock cats!!"

Then about 4 months later and 2,000 miles I thought "man this thing is quiet with stock cats"

It quiets down a TON. I eventually got test pipes to wake it back up and it got really loud for another 1000 miles but again it quieted back down. I'd say that my shockwave sounds as loud as it did when i first got it as it does now after added test pipes

do you think its the exhaust that quieted down?

or is it the power of human adaptability? lol

It's carbon build up that mutes the sounds. Happens in all exhausts.

Is there a way to get rid of the carbon buildup?

It's not carbon build up.......

It's actually the glue inside the resonators settling into place. As you run the car more, the heat will melt the glue that holds the glass fibers in the resonators together, and they will shift around and pack into place better. The fibers are what actually "mutes" the sound and absorbs the sound waves

^^yeah I read about that actually

well that kinda sucks. in my case though, im thinking i just got used to the sound

this exhaust was driven for 4-5k miles before I bought it, so the fibers should have already melted into place

edit: anyway to make the TDX2 louder? without going test pipes route (I have HFC now). Is there any component that I can switch up to make it louder (I think they used to offer a straight pipe with the XYZ? but the tdxv2 replaces the ability to switch that in correct?)

We now have V1 axle back sections available.

Its rare that people want it louder but if you need it, we got it.

Call us for details on the axleback section.

^^Well im afraid the V1 might be TOO loud. I guess I have to hear someone local first.

I just want mine a tad bit louder. Well actually I have a question for you, or anybody on here for that matter.

If you have an exhaust leak, would that reduce sound any?

So you guys still sell the V1 portion (without the Helmholtz Resonators) to swap with the TDX2?

Is the V1 really that much louder? I thought they were about the same loudness, just no drone with the V2.
