I was just over at Motordyne and Tony and myself just ran a db level test on my car. The results were 114db with my foot to the floor

My car is 04' it has pop-charger intake motordyne shockwave TDX2 exhaust cat back only and a Plemum spacer.

OK, that's not too bad, i'm trying to remember the state limit.

I'm thinking it's 20-25ft and i' guessing adding the HFC's will help cut things down a bit too

My guess is the ART pipes will actually make it a tad quieter than HFC's.

ART removes the stock cats, but i'm talking about having ARTs AND adding the MD HFC on their XYZ pipe or the modular, dual HFC on the Shockwave system.

This is what I wanted to do, but it appears to only be an option on the original (discontinued) "True Dual" and not the TDX (v1 or v2). Notice how the "muffler" section in the midpipe area now mates directly to the XYZ-pipe, right where the HFC/testpipe module would normally go.

TDX v2:

I really wanted to go with some PPE/FI longtubes & just sub in an HFC in the XYZ for emissions, but didn't do my homework before buying the v2.

Fortunately, Tony's great at this, he now has modular options for the Shockwave.

It still doesn't use the XYZ option/section, but now adds the ability to bolt in cats or mufflers into the section behind the mid muffler.

We now have the option of HFC's built into the midpipes.

These are modular, right? ie. you can change them out at a later date?

Holy crap, that's awesome! It's still hot enough that far back for the catalyst?? What is the cost (don't see it on the site but I may be blind). Also, any word on the power loss with dual HFCs vs the single in the XYZ/ true dual?

The system will still be straight through, but with a high flow setup just back of the first resonator. Based on this, i would say marginal loss in power, tuning-wise, it's better to have the cat further back
It's marginally further back than the HFC sits with the XYZ pipe, which i know works fine on my car.

I would call or email Motordyne to order the HFC modular section.

sorry to bring back an old thread

Is it normal for this exhaust to quiet down a bit after driving?

The reason im asking is because I have the TDX v2 now and when i first put it on it was pretty darn loud, at all RPMs. its been about a week now and it seems alot quieter in all RPMs.

I bought mine USED however, so its already been through the break in process so I'm not sure why it would quiet down again. I have a V-band clamp that is bent and is loose. Would this be a cause of it quieting down? Or am I just used to the sound now?
