Default Dual intake plenum on an 04?

I've been searching everywhere, figured someone might have come up with the idea already but i guess not. Does anyone know if it is possible to fit a dual intake plenum on an 04 350z? Yes i know i would have to do modifications to fit the intake pipes, and run dual throttle bodies, which is fine with me. I havent got my hands on a dual intake plenum to test fit, so bottom line will JUST THE PLENUM fit??? has anyone tried this yet?

Sounds like a lot of work. What gains are you trying for with this?

just a little experimenting. if it fits, maybe a possible option instead of spacer? would do the job for letting the engine breather more. Also just trying to look for feedback on the idea

I'm guessing the ECU might not like it either...

Not willing to pay? Joke topic.

setiously the gains arent worth it. Just buy a hr if you want hr performance. Cant buy a donkey to make it a racehorse bud.

$1600 is cheap compared to what you would need to spend to try and get an HR plenum to work on a DE. How do you plan on even wiring in the second TB? Replacing the whole harness?

with time and money, anything is possible

aside from needing 2 throttle bodies, a reprogrammed ecu, new injectors (or perhaps it's possible to rescale for stock injectors, would have to brainstorm over this), and machining an adapter so the dual throttle body HR plenum will bolt to the earlier style collector - sure it will work. Swapping ecu's is not a solution unfortunately without major reworking

then you'll need the radiator support for the HR, and spend your afternoon swapping it in (I've done it...not bad, but time consuming)

and then you'll also need the HR hood I believe as well

If I had that strong a craving for two air filters, I'd probably sell/trade the car for an 07 or 08 Z and use that as my basis

has it been done? yes - one of the Japanese tuners did it about 8 or 9 years ago using a stock DE plenum, and adding an 'arm' to it, using another stock throttle body. Different? Sure. But all that time and money could go into building a DE with one throttle body that achieves something tangiable.

An individual throttle body setup on an otherwise stock engine would largely be futile - and if you think the above is expensive/time consuming, you're not ready for an ITB setup either

Z1 Performance - Thanks, good info.

Like I said, it's an IDEA that i wouldn't mind experimenting with, if the research shows it can be done with a reasonable price then i'm all for it. From now until December is when ill do my research on any modifications for my car. If it doesn't look promising then ill scrap that idea and continue to port my plenum and add a spacer.

You have an 04 so that is a DE motor. Just get 5/16 iso-thermo spacers for it. IF you want a new plenum a Kinetix V+ works well too.

Its a cost effective alternative to your costly experiment.

Yes I did it, HR plenum & dual TB on a 04 Z with factory ECM/Haltech. I also ran a VG30tt, and currently running a GTR plenum all with OEM HR TB. Buy far the hardest one was the OEM HR. First the HR plenum has square ports & the DE has round ports, also the HR block is about 8mm higher deck so if u try to use the HR lower manifold, it will take ALOT of work to fit the DE heads. (I spent almost $600.00 in machine work, plus ALOT of my own time & work). I also had to make a wire harness. All 3 intakes worked well, fell the best one is the GTR, not to mention the best looking. My 04Z is running a Rotrex SC at 9psi, dyno on 2 diff occasions at 440whp. Hope this helps
