Default Jet-Hot coating worth it?

I'm getting a Vortech system installed in a few weeks. (my build here: https://my350z.com/forum/forced-indu...ech-build.html )

I'm installing a set of Stillen stainless headers with this build. I'm contemplating getting them jet-hot coated.

Is it worth getting them coated? Pro's and Con's?

I've only heard it's a lot better than ceramic coating, contains the heat better.

the vortech wont produce the same type of heat as a turbo kit, i have my manifolds done and it was pretty reasonable..about 200 if i remember, u dont "need" it but if you have the extra cash............or save it for a tune

I just did ceramic. Not only for the heat but for corrosion protection, I hate rusty cast manifolds.

That wouldn't apply to sst headers though, and as said above, sc's don't generate the same temps.

I would get it jet coated. Yes it's not a turbo manifold where keeping the heat on the inside can improve power output, but it will prevent excess heat in your engine bay which is always good. If the jet coating is over about 150$ I'd recommend buying some DEI exhaust wrap and just wrapping your headers yourself. It's a simple and easy DIY if you have the headers out of the car.

It's not necessary and you will get along fine not doing it, but it's something I'd do. It's little details like that that can bother me on cars, or make a car just that much better in my opinion.

My first header i installed were not heat wrapped, the second set were wrapped using Tomei and DEI wrap and there was a big difference on how fast the intake heat soaked. Nothing I logged but just from observation. My current set of headers (LTH) are Fireball Coated which is the same as Jet Hot and I don't regret it.

i did mine and it was money well spent. as mentioned, if your doing a ss header install then why would you not want to do this? sure its a few bucks, but i believe the benefits are well worth the cost. check their website for pro's and con's...they do excellent work.

I decided to ask Rob @ ZCG and he said, "not worth it." So I'm kind of at a loss here.

I was quote $190 from Jet hot coatings. I'm trying to find more research on this. Any links would be helpful, thanks.

i suppose if you are fi then you would have higher header temps that would require the more expensive jet hot coating...be sure to get the right coating for your application.

as far as is it worth it or not....google is your friend. at least then you will have a better idea of whether or not it is worth it to you.

good luck
