Default Adding a Titanium-Like Finish to Exhaust & Intake?

watsup guys, i have another question and dont know where to post it so here it goes. i want to get the Injen CA Intake, and an hks exhaust. but i like the burnt titanium look that other intakes and exhausts have, like the amuse.
i want it to look like this but be a cai. http://www.flickr.com/photos/ctwenty...57622931597142

is it possible to give this burnt effect to any metal? any titanium? or do i have to buy the product wth that finish.

my idea was to just pick up the hks and injen and send them to someone that specializes in this finish? thanks for the help in advance. i also want get an aftermarket strut bar in this finish.

reason i want to do this is it will look cool on my car.

The main reason that the pipe in the picture is like that is because its Titanium...

I dont think doing that with an injen pipe would be cost efficient...let alone very easy to do..

Im pretty sure the injen pipe is coated and isnt bare metal like most of the Ti burnt pipes or even the Ti "look"

Im pretty sure you have to get it down to a bare metal and then polish..then very carefull heat treatment maybe? regardless i dont think that doing it on anything other than real Ti would last very long...

I don't see why not, it probably won't look exactly the same but they could have a similar finish.

yeah this guy has some terms wickedly confused for sure..
is yousearch, theres a threadof someone who made a titanium CIA intake tube recently.. doesnt look super great, and is brittle as hell.
Andnot cheap.
Youd need to make it the same way the HKS knockoff exhaust companies do thier tips.. id start there.. call XO2 or one of those guys to see what they use.

Ask your teacher since your in a tech school. I'm pretty sure they anodize the metals that aren't titanium. RHDjapan has the Amuse Ti intake pipe for sale... they're expensive.

It's going to be a process similar to this.
I've seen a write up here somewhere.

350zion did a write up on a Nismo shift **** but it was actually titanium. I really think it has some type of anodizing, when you "burn" the Ti... it's just the oxidation of the Ti that makes the colors.

I don't think anything search worthy is coming out of this... but I seriously thought it was funny that you needed to rename the thread.

Yes, you can. Did it with a friend to a stainless steel "tobacco" pipe. Looks super dope. I'd recommend polishing it first, then torching the living f*ck out of it with a butane torch. I think you should actually use an oxy acetylene torch, but only do it if you know what you are doing (it will take a 1/10 the time).

if your intake was made of stainless steel, you can just torch them until they change colors. your injen is made of aluminum and melts easily and wont work.

here is an example of stainless after getting hot..

yeah thats an option. ive seen SS do that but its not as bright or professional looking enough. i may try it on titanium. but i really just want to have the pipe made or buy it and send it to someone that specializes in the preocess of buring color into metal. hey mid. do you remember what the process was called on those tips or what the tips were made of?
thanks for the replies guys. and i will check out those exhausts thst have been posted.
