Question Intake question

I have a question that I would like as many opinions on as possible.

Why do companies make short ram intakes?

The ones w/ aluminum tubing... If they suck in hot engine air, suffer from heat soak, and don't ingest cold air...then why do they even make them? Is there absolutely ANY performance gain with these things at all? I've also noticed that *NO* hardkore JDM tuners use cold air intakes. What gives?

People buy them. A company wouldn't invest in a product that has no potential to sell. They sell so they are made.

it is a practical performance modification for people who do not want to run a CAI because of wet weather conditions and the chance of hydrolocking their motors
