Intakes
According to Nissan there is no tire feathering. JK.
However, there is no NEED to reset the ECU as it will learn over time anyways. I prefer to reset it so that learning begins immediatley and from a fresh slate.

ALSO I had a GruppeM on my old 99 3 series Bmw which was an incredible intake.
I'd say this is also one of the best looking intakes for the Z period.
Looks are subjective but if I want my car to look nice, I'll use wax. Not a 650 dollar filter, tube, and box. If an intake makes the same or less power than a 95 dollar intake, I would say there is a problem. I NEVER open my hood and say, Look at my engine! My engine is a workhorse, not a Prancing Horse. And please don't compare it to something German. I'm half german and I hate german cars. all of them. nothing but bad experiences from european cars. just a sidenote for your personal enjoyment.
Personally, the GruppeM is out of the question. Way too expensive.
Is the raim air effect that pronounced? If so, the panel filter would seem to be the way to go.
It seems the JWT would allow more air, but potentially hotter, and no ram air. right? So maybe it makes power on the dyno, but not on the street? WHo knows.

Keep your stock airbox, excellent heatshield, straightens airflow.
You can also try constructing a "ram" piping directly to the airbox. Butt dyno approves
. I got rid of my Nismo CAI because of this set-up. Cost $25 for parts courtesy of Home Depot. Betcha I can give Cruppe M a run for his money. j/k

here's a real stupid question for you guys
if i have all the piping of a injen cai and i want to buy the jwt popcharger could i in theory just replace the top portion of the stock intake with the injen piping for looks purposes and still apply the pop charger? hope that makes sense. e.g. bye bye black tube hello polished injen one.

Seems to me that doing a ram air like that just limits the amount of space from which the box can take air. Something through the bumper would be better IMO. But hey, everyone thinks their own setup is the best!
Anyways, the curves and diameter of the pipe sort of seems like it would limit the potential for intake compared to a larger opening the stock setup has. Considering that a NA motor sucks air rather than relying on it being forced in. Either way, you feel your butt feels it so what else matters, right?
Merry Christmas either way.

After i dyno the K&N, ill be switching to the JWT pop charger, im going to try to rig up the snorkle from the K&N to direct air to the JWT until I can get my mines air duct...
Wow, I can't believe the amount of people that think the engine compartment is a SEALED box with absolutely NO airflow coming from the front or underneath the car.
And I can't believe I'm typing this at 7:30 Xmas morning, I need to go to my350z.com anonymous........
Merry Christmas everyone

Exact opposite design and the guys at Performance Nissan seemed to dislike the design with the heat shield. I bought a 35k car so I want to get the best products, so what if it costs money. The intake was by far the most popular on the e46 platform for BMW, One of the best for the last gen NSX and now has become popular on the Porsche and Ferrari platforms.
