Impact wrenches can break them too. Even if only used on other bolts near the sensor.

That makes sense , I'm getting the sensor replaced as I write this , just hoping this will be the end of my headache . So far I haven't felt any performance differnce since having the pipes installed hopefully this will change with the new sensor . I also realize that a tune will be needed to get the most out of the pipes

[QUOTE=tbruner;9639462]I'm 19 and did it myself with a socket set, crescent wrench and a torque wrench. It was fairly easy. Took about 3 hours. The hardest part was the top bolts on the header>ART Pipe flange, I just miguivered a socket wrench with about 9 or so extensions to reach from the engine bay down to Art Pipes.

I finally figured out the rattle it is due to the Cat-back rattling on the differential. I cant really figure out how to move it...[/QUOTE
I wish I was that mechanicaly capable lol , I would've Def broke something

You technically saw a drop in performance, but of course, all due to the sensor fault, they're pretty important sensors.

I'd suggest an ecu reset after installing the new sensor, then see how you feel.

So I got my ART Pipes on and looking into a tune very soon.

I am from Califonia so these will not pass smog in anyway unfortunately. My question is if I tune the car for all my mods : headers, ART Pipes, Cat Back, CAI, and MD 5/16 spacer... Should my car pass smog if I switch the cats back on before I take it for smog or should I tune the car with the cats on?

I want the benefits of my $500 pipes...

Thanks guys!

Well if you have your own laptop that you're using or cobb AP you can just use the stock map you have. Upload your stock one before the inspection, then swap out the ART pipes and load the tuned map.

Basically as Rubdium said, if you get uprev tuned though, you will likely have switchable maps from the cruise control buttons. Ask your tuner about that.

Otherwise, once you're tuned, you should pass with the stock cats on fine, i personally wouldn't go ragging it around until you switch back to the ART pipes.

I am going through uprev, and unfortunately I have a base so I have no cruise control, so no map switching for me...

As the last post states if I tune with the ART Pipes then switch to stock cats for 1 day so I can smog, I should be fine passing smog?

Cruise control has nothing to do with maps.....we are talking about FUEL MAPS ("the tune"). When you get uprev I don't know if they have a "stock map", but once you tune the car that tune would be saved as a "MAP".

To change between "MAPS" you have to flash the ECU.

With UpRev you have a choice of 5 maps stored on your ECU - One of them usually being your stock map, and as an example I have my other 4 as 93/91/Valet/Anti-Theft.

However, to switch between those maps you need to have steering wheel controls, as you use the down button (from cruise control) and cancel together to switch between the maps. Without them, you're stuck on whatever map you've set it to. There are a few DIY's that allow you to install cruise control on your steering wheel so you're able to quickly switch maps.

I think some people have to have a laptop to flash/change different maps on a base model. But then again, there are DIY for adding cruise control if you feel it is worth the trouble.

Cali is a bit strict w/ emissions testing huh ;( guess even UpRev can't save you there w/ disabling the CEL / o2 sensors from tripping the CEL

It's not a CEL problem, it's a sniffer problem.

The cars have a 'wand' shoved up the exhaust, doesn't matter if it's got cats or not, it can be off. Same in England.

The wand measures the exhausts PPM, or CO in parts per million. Since the ART Pipes remove the cats, it's a much higher value. Thankfully, Philly only has an OBD check, and the garage I had my last inspection at didn't feel like doing a visual inspection under since he somehow couldn't get my stock-heighted car on the lift

So are you all saying, ditch the ART Pipes, put the cats back on, and get it tuned???

This is my DD, So that was a waste of $550?

I better ask my tuner what he thinks...
