How does a injen intake stack up to other intakes on a 350z?
Just asking a question about injen intakes on 350z's and would like to know what kind of gains people have gotten with them? The only mod on my car is a nismo cat-back exhaust.

In my experience, all breather mods are good for a change in the sound of your car and that's about it unless you have your car tuned afterwards. If you have your car tuned, you can then see gains, but without a tune you are just throwing your AFR out of range and getting a different sound out of the car.
Im only in it for the performance gains, so I'm already thinking about a tune. Thanks for the help. My friend who drives a 240 told me I needed a injens intake. I was skeptical, so why not ask the pros.

Whether you're talking drag strip, auto-x, or track - if you're truly looking for performance mods for our cars and not for cool stuff to show off at the car meets, IMO you want to go after these that will make a difference first:
1) Driver Training (HPDE, Auto-X events, etc)
2) Diff
3) Suspension
4) Really Good Tires
5) Lightweight wheels
After that, I'd consider one of the following power adder paths depending on your budget:
1) Bolt ons (intake, spacer, HFC/testpipes, exhaust) + UpRev tune
2) Nitrous + supporting mods (colder plugs, rods&bolts, fuel pump, clutch/flywheel) + UpRev/UTEC tune
3) Stock block + Vortech or ST + Engine Management & Tune
4) Built block + Twin Turbo + Engine Management & Tuner on call

Yes thank you someone that understand what I want to do. Im friends with a lot dudes who have riced out honda's and nissan's and they are trying to tell me to TT my car and get a big intake with loud as **** exhaust. I always wanted to get performance wheels, wider tires, better suspension, better brakes, and just learning the true limitations of my car because its already fast to begin with. Then maybe get into the big mods once I can handle it. I have an 04 and am also wondering about the tranny and I do plan on tracking my car too.

Is the tranny grinding or hard to get into gear?
No not yet, but it only has 20,000 miles on it. Im really hoping nothing bad happens to it because I have heard a lot of bad thing about the early Z's trannys. The other reason I ask about the tranny is will it hold up well when I start tracking my car because they arent the best?

I beat on my 04.5 tranny in my roadster and never had a problem with it. We'll see how the 03 tranny in my coupe does this summer. I think that proper maintenance is the key to lowering your risk. But I wouldn't lose sleep over it either. Stuff is going to break if you track and beat on your car. Just make sure that you're ready and can afford the maintenance, insurance, and payments for the car and aren't over your head & you'll be fine.
If the tranny starts to give you problems, just upgrade to the newer CD009 tranny at that point. But I wouldn't give it another thought until you see signs of problems. You can get a replacement tranny cheaper than you can get a good set of tires, and you'll be running through tires pretty quickly if you're tracking your car - so it shouldn't be a big sticker shock if you have to replace it one day.
