Cat Converter for 2005 35th Ann. 350z
Hello Everyone,
I recently purchased a 2005 35th Ann. 350z. Great car.. Took it in for emissions test.. Failed.. Turns out the ******* who sold me the car failed to tell me that he changed the cat converters for a straight pipe (I know I shouldve taken it to a mechanic prior to the purchase, that was a mistake on my part). So my dilemma now is that I need to purchase cat converters for this car and go back in for the emissions. Are there any cat converters in particular you would recommend? I am browsing around on the net but there are just so many options. Also, I am Canadian. Most sites that I am coming across are American.
Any and all advice would be appreciated...

I am sure you can find eBay catalytic converters on the cheap. Be careful. They may not function like the OEM units and you will fail the emissions.
Tuners refer to catalytic converters as high flow. Regardless of low or high flow, converters from a reputable company will pass the emissions test.

Apparently this car was previously tuned with Uprev before. Its got the decals and everything. I'm not entirely sure how the tuning process works though so if you could fill me in that would be great. I've been doing some research but everything that I'm coming across is rather vague.
Also, I've been on Ebay looking at some cat converters.. Do you know if the car requires to be tuned via Uprev no matter what aftermarket cat converters I install?

You do not need to be retuned after new cats. Once you get all the bolt ons you want if staying N/A get tuned at that point.

So you didn't think to ask about the check engine light from the cel the car threw before you bought it? Or perhaps the guy cleared the engine codes beforehand...Either way, your cheapest option is probably the O2 bung extensions to pull the sensors out slightly so they don't heat up as fast...and magic, no more cel.
Of course that all depends on how in depth your emissions test even is. Back home all they ever did was plug up to the computer and screw something in, in place of the gas cap
