Default Injen Cold Air Intake - Question

I'm considering installing the Injen Cold Air Intake kit on my 350z, but would like to hear from someone who has some experience with the kit. Injen's website doesn't provide much information besides the usual marketing pitch. Does anyone have any idea how much additional hp such kit will deliver? Is it worth the $300 that the kit is selling for?

Any responses are appreciated. Thank you.

300 bucks? DO NOT pay that much. Look around and you'll be able to find them much cheaper than that.

As for power gains, well, there's lots of debate about that one. One side claims you won't see any results on a dyno because a fan will not properly simulate the mass of air that would be sucked in through the intake while actually driving, but should still make a little power on the road. The other side claims that the stock box is more than effective that an aftermarket intake is a waste of money.

I have an InJen, and while I highly doubt it did anything on the dyno, back when I first installed it, my "butt dyno" told me my car pulled a little bit harder in the upper RPM range.

Just my .02 and if you decide to go with it, I've done a full write up on the install if you have any questions.

Thanks a lot for the input. I would be interested in the write up on the install in the event that I decide to go with the Injen kit. Where would I find it? Logically, it makes sense that one should feel a difference, but I do agree that the stock box is quite good.

i have the injen to be installed next weekend. check the private classifieds, and you can find one around $200. Mods compliment other mods, so maybe you will see more gains with more mods. And noone can deny that the Injen Looks awesome installed. I love the polished/black.

HP numbers are a big debate. But the one thing we all agree on is it does increase the sound of the car on wide open throttle.

Save your $$$'s! Put the money toward some other mod like exhaust or grounding kit. I had the Injen CAI for about 3 months and started noticing RPM fluctuation. The OEM intake is excellent. Out perform Injen on low end. Just go get a K&N drop in filter.

i have had mine for a good amount of time and i have experienced no problems. I noticed a good throttle response. i also got mine for much less than 300$..i would say it is better than a drop in...maybe not for the money but it is a cool product, looks good, sounds good, and does make gain.. my 2 cents

later,
kevin

I have the injen now. Had the AEM. Both were nice. I have a little RPM fluctuation but I'm just gonna clean the MAF sensor and that should go away.

Ultimately I think i'm going to get the Nismo. I like the filter placement of teh AEM better, but I like the black color of the Injen better. So Nismo would be the best for me.

i thought the Nismo was just a rebadged AEM CAI.

Can someone clear this up?

I like the Injen CAI, had no problems with rpm fluctuation. Actually the car has better throttle response in my opinion. The only hard part is getting that long tube down the front, just follow the instructions (theirs and ones posted here) and you won't have any problems.

Yes Nismo is an AEM intake. That's why it has the bypass valve.
