Default HR Injen CAI and Bassani Exhaust ordered!!

hi, name is Kyle. I have a 08 350z that I got used with 3000 miles on it back in 08. Currently I have 52k miles and love every mile of my Z. I have been lurking around the site for a while reading posts and trying to come up with a set up thAt would give me the sound and power I am looking for. After reading many threads and listening to many many sound clips I finally landed on the Injen CAI and the Bassani exhaust both were ordered yesterday and will ship out to my shop in Houston by the 22ed of this month.
Got both shipped free and a very good price on both items from auto anything . Com. Just wanted to introduce myself and encourage anyone that has had experience with either items to chime in and give me their take on them. Thanks for the responses ahead of time!

Congrats on the purchases!

I recently installed a Nismo S-Tune and the Injen CAI on my 08 and noticed a loss in torque in low rpms. Since I anticipated this, I also purchased an UpRev tune, which should restore that and maximize the power output and efficiency of the bolt-ons. I'd recommend a tune, if you haven't already thought of that.

Thanks for the recommendation! I've been thinking about this for a bit now.

I didn't notice any power/torque loss
I'm running Greddy Evo2 exhaust and Injen intake (basically the same thing as you).
However, I wouldn't notice stuff like this either way... I wanted a better air flow and not care about the power/torque
Definitely doing a tune now.

Kyle - you're receiving your stuff just in time for THIS.

Welcome brah!

After the CAI and exhaust is installed I'm going to have my techs check to see if it is running lean and if so how much.

be careful if you decide to tune. I know some members spending 600+ on a tune and being very very disappointed. They install a couple bolt ons, get a tune and expect spectacular results, not going to happen.

After reading a couple things I am only going to tune if
My air fuel ratio is changed quite a bit. I have also read that after installing the cai and the exhaust I should flash the ecu and drive around for 15-20 minutes letting it get use to the bolt ons?

Intakes and exhaust alone didn't alter the a/f ratios much for me. When I threw on the HFCs, it went whack everywhere on the power band. If you are running very lean I would get tuned asap

Intake came in:

She screams after 5k rpm and sounds much more throaty. There is some torque and hp that can be felt. It looks good and was not hard to install. Only took about a hr and a half with a lift. The exhaust should be coming in sometime this week.

Congrats! I am thinking of getting the Basanni exhaust too because it sounds more aggressive than the rest of the other exhaust.

Of course you would expect a huge lost of torque when changing the size of your pipes from a 2.5in to 3in. 3in normally fit well for V8s or highly moded engines. But for a v6 with low mods you wont expect anything unless you get a tune just as you recommended to OP.

I guess you have not heard of the Motordyne ART Test Pipes + Shockwave TDX2 exhaust.

You do realize, exhausts don't sound like they do on video. Motordyne ART + Shockwave sounds nothing like your so called "fart can"

I never said shockwave sounds like a fart can. I only mention that the exhaust looks like a fart can. Shockwave sound is good but I think the bassani sounds way better with the ART, not too loud nor raspy.

Hey OP I have a question for you Regarding the Injen CAI and the install. Do you find that on the right side (passenger side) where the intakes come through the hole, and down in front of the radiator, that you have fitment issues? Im referring to the 90 degree hose / pipe right there that goes into or out of the resevior (i believe its for the AC??) I noticed mine sits on top of it, and is causing it to kind of sit higher, and actually pushing on the front bumper. On that side of the car, at about 5 MPH and slowing down, I notice a distinct vibration / rumble over in that side of the car, and wondering if thats causing it. Plan on taking off the bumper to check it out this weekend, any input would be great.

I also posted this in another thread, rather ask around than start a whole new thread and have the mods rage and close it on me lol
