to prove.. before my accident i put test pipes on my car... took it to the track... lost high end power... gained low end torque...

i say go with RT Cats..

special price from http://www.mynismo.com
Jason,

I totally believe what you say, however here is my delima...

$559.00 (RT Cats) vs. $189.99 (Kinetix Test Pipes)

That's a difference of $370!

If it's not that much of a difference, I'd rather save the $370 and apply it toward my "exhaust fund".

I did get a CEL when my test pipes were installed. It comes on every few hundred miles then I take it to AutoZone and they clear it again for me...

something is not right if your CEL comes on every few hundred miles. MANY others have never had their lights come on, after thousands of miles of driving. I have heard of a couple people having their lights come on, then either go off by themselves or they are reset and never come back on.

Also you can reset your ECU yourself, it is a tricky little process but it is posted on the board here somewhere.

Hmmmm.. I got the $599 price from www.mynismo.com. $500 is definitely better... but still not as good as $189.

i understand...

test pipes smell bad - especially to cops in cali...

you wont pass emissions so plan on getting under your car and putting your stock cats on...

rt cats make power across the board equally...

but its up to you...

ive had both now...

next time i do any exhaust work, ill be putting my RT Cats back on...

Yeah, I know that I'd definitely have to throw the stock cats back on for smog checks for sure. Maybe I'll get the High flow cats instead so that I won't have to crawl under the car more than once.

Are cats relatively easy to install yourself at home with the car on ramps?

you can if you know what you are doing and can dealwith 2 bolts that are going to be a really big hastle to get out...

much easier if you have a long socket extension to go in from the top of the engine bay.

Cool Deal. Thanks for the info, Jason. I think that I might have an extension for my socket set. I'll have to check it out when I get home. Are you and Jeff still planning to go tomorrow to the dyno day?
