Hey guys I picked up some aam HFCs and I'm looking for some feedback from anyone has installed these. They come with bolts and nuts to attach them to the catback but nothing for the exhaust manifold to cat. Am I able to reuse the bolts and nuts from the exhaust manifold because I am aware there is a stud on the stock cat so I'm trying to figure out if I need anything extra before I go into this. Also, what are people doing for a gasket between the manifold and the new cat? Here is a picture of what they send you from aam, any information would be greatly appreciated thanks.

 

You can use the existing hardware from your OEM cats.I'd use new gaskets.
If you are planning to install yourself,better preplan a extension tool(thats the"anything extra" to enable
bolt removable from the top.Its not a bad install if you have the right tools and the
bolts from the OEM cats come off without a hitch.You need to remove the intake.With the right extension tool(Snap On),You should be able to get your
OEM cat off with no problems.

When I did my HFC's, it really helped to remove the knuckle on the steering linkage in order to reach the top bolt on the driver's side. Was nearly impossible without taking that off using the extensions and elbows that I had.

 

i just took off my berk test pipes and put my oem cats back on a week ago, and if i remember correctly.. the oem cats have stationary bolts welded into them which means you can't use them for your hfc's... im almost positive.

 

the oem exhaust manifold has one stud sticking out that goes into one of the HFC 3 hole flange. The other two use the provided hardware. Use your oem gaskets, they are metal not cheap graphite.

Most important tool: PB blaster, Nut Buster, DW40, spray all 5 bolts on each side very good, let soak, the spray again.
