Default Exhaust cutout keeps freezing

I have a Doug's headers electric cutout. It keeps getting stuck.

I sent it back once for repair and they said there was large amount of carbon fouling it.

My motor is new, runs perfectly and uses no oil or other fluids. In the less than 10k it has been running I have had five Blackstone oil checks that show perfect results yet Pertronix (parent company) said the issue is carbon build up.

I sent it back again today. It does have a black coating but I assume that is the nature of the exhaust and normal.

Is it unreasonable to think there is something in the exhaust of a properly running internal combustion motor and anything sitting in that path is subject to being coated with it?

I ran qtp cutout with my old daily driver, an 00 gtp. Was boosted and fully tuned on a stock block pushing 14 psi. And for over 75k miles and I've never seen or heard of that carbon issue destroying any electric cutout.

Ask them if they understand that exhaust consists of combusted hydrocarbons.

I did. They seem to think it burns clean.

Thanks for the verification.

It did not last an oil change. The first one on the oil consumer that WAS blowing oil lasted three cycles (open close)

The repaired version lasted 4 freaking days on the new hand built 100% perfect stroker.

The thing that bothers me is they are acting like the imho normal "dusting" of black matter that is there is somehow excessive. It is dry and I'd think something designed to move in that environment would be equipped to be subjected to that abuse.

My car is not horribly low but is a pita to get off the ground. I hate picking it up, not working on it so having to keep doing it to get the damn thing off after 2 times has become old.

Hopefully they send a new one that is ok this time. If not I'll just block it off and live without it (and hammer them online for a horrible product)

Noob here, I was just searching the internet for issues with Dougs cutouts and found this post. I have one but I run it on a Volvo. Mine is freezing up and I have to rock the switch several times to get it to close. Is this what was happening with you? I recorded it on Youtube.

Please let me know, thanks
