Quick question on the motordyne. I installed mine this weekend, Love the sound and everything about it. However I noticed there is a slight vibrating at certain moments. It kinda Feels like the exhaust is hitting either on the sway bar or the crossmember under the resonator chamber. Any Idea it this is an Issue others have noticed or did i install something upside down.

 

prob the crossmember.. did you space it down with the spacers provided or not? even after i added the spacers the flange and the vband clamp would still hit it over bumps. i got a piece of exhaust hanger rubber and wedged it in there. didnt happen again

there is alot of adjustability on the TDX2, if you spend the time under the car you could do it right

 

What Spacers? I checked all the bags and only had the v-clamps, gaskets and bolts. I will recheck later tonight and see if I had missed a bag, but I will make sure to use a exhaust hanger rubber to minimize contact. It hurts me everytime I hear it hit/ rub.

 

when i got mine he had 4 aluminum spacers/washers to put between the brace and the frame

 

i used something like the top one, took the metal off it it. depending on how much room you have you could wedge something bigger in there (thats what she said). i was worried about it melting so i took my heat gun on it for 10 minutes straight, it smoked some but never melted and i did notice at first it had a bit of smell but it went away

Everything I can find has got HFC's of test pipes.

because the cats are the biggest choke point in the exhaust, is there a law in the UK saying you have to have stock ?

 

I dont live in the UK but I have my stock Cats on. The sound is awesome despite the restriction of the Cats. I can only imagine what the ART pipes sound with the complete set up. I will see if I can post up a vid of my set up sometime tonight or later in the Week.

HFC's are legal, decats are a grey area. I'm just not keen on the hiss/rasp they produce.

 

gotcha, if it were me i would get some nice HFC to pair with it... you won't get rasp then

 

Decent HFC's will be ok, but the ART pipes (essentially decats, you'll need to put cats back for the MOT) will have no rasp and keep the note nice and deep.

 

OP did you put your V-clamps on after you had everything bolted up?

The VClamps are the 'bolts' - what exactly do you mean?

 

Reason I ask is because I just got my XYZ pipe and this is my first experience using the v-clamp and I was wondering if it's easier to put everything together (meaning attaching the two pieces, v-clamp and all), and THEN bolt it in to the rest of the exhaust like a regular y-pipe, or to bolt everything in, and then attach the v-clamp. Or am I overthinking things? haha

 

Please do some drive by clips just letting off the gas pedal. Curious how she sounds with stock cats and if it has the burble letting off, even a little bit.

Best way to fit vband clamps, is to loosely attach everything and offer up to the car first. Then start aligning from the front of the car, back. Tighten up each vband a little more as you go, making sure that as they pull the pipes closer, that things still line up.

 

Nah, I think it is totally and completely different under load when letting off.
