what year/model is your z?

the K&N drop in filter is a good choice - simple, inexpensive, easy. Avoid megan racing like the plague!! and the magnaflow is alright…

if it was my money and what I did was stillen test pipes and the stillen exhaust, not cheap but high quality...

The K&N drop in is a logical move.
Look for other test pipes than the Megan. They are junk.
Magnaflow/Megan...sounds like you are on the cheap route.
Save your money and get quality parts.Long term its the best
way.Sounds as though the purpose of your mods is SOUND,
not performance. There are many ways to make your car
louder.Loud does not make it go faster.

I would definatly save the money on a intake the drop in works just as well, as far as test pipes make sure if you buy a cheap set to get a pair with the flex joint, my buddy had a pair with no flex and kept busting them, he tracks a lot but still I would recommend the flex joint, and if your looking for a cheap deep tone just unbolt your muffler and see how you like it it's my favorite exhaust note for the z and g but I wouldnt run test pipes with the muffler delete it gets a raspy but if you like the exhaust note a muffler shop can weld in some tips for about 100 and it will still look good

no no no…think quality, not quantity…if you want a loud car, save yourself a ton of cash and go buy a honda civic, put straight pipes and take the exhaust off…

agree, louder DOES NOT make it faster, just annoying - like they don't know what they're doing…as in the only way I can make anyone notice me and/or my car is by making it obnoxiously loud!

My car can be loud, around 6000rpms when I'm full throttle - but it always sounds good(IMO), a nice deep, well defined tone, doesnt sound like a V8 bc it's not, doesnt sound like a I4 bc it's not...

Sounds like you have a little money to spend on some mods, my advice would be to save up a little more and buy quality parts. Stay away from Megan Test Pipes, I would save the money for the ART pipes or go with Berk TP's. As far as exhaust's go I wouldn't do Magnaflow, from what I have heard with custom set ups they sound like complete bawls. HKS, Greddy, Fast Intentions, Motordyne would be my suggestions. Don't cheap out on parts, I tried that route first and wanted to set my car on fire. DON'T DO IT! Also, save money for a tune as well.

i cant stand honda civics. i def do not want a car that sounds like a civic. i ment loud as in deep tone. kinda like a manly racing tone so of speak. performance wise i would like it but am not going any farther then tp, intake, muffler. i even thought about not getting tp for now maybe in the future. would i be able to get a nice tone with intake and mufflers alone? and ofcourse id get a tune up
