$35 ebay intakes do nothing to help 350z's. They do help with other cars that have super restrictive air boxes, but the 350's air intake is very direct in stock form! I have an HR motor, so I have two intakes and I have the Ingen long intakes that go all the way down in front of the radiator, and they do help, but they cost $500 (luckily I got mine on amazon for $350 shipped). The reason mine work better than stock is because they get cooler air than the stock intakes could sitting up in the hot engine bay. Since you have the DE motor with a single intake I would get a performance drop-in filter, it would help more than an ebay intake would.

So your saying Cold air intakes are better than regular/short ram intakes. Which makes sense since they'll be lower and away from the upper parts of the engine. I can't really imagine any regular intake outperforming cold air intakes. Do you think cold air intakes would perform better than a performance filter on the DE?
if the shape of the tube is correct, seriously wat is the different between the ebay and name brand? the filter? unless the ebay one used super shitty metal that crumples like a beer can. theyre all made of metal
Do this or something like this…buy a used intake from a fellow member…
buy it used, no moving parts, get some good pictures, make sure it's in good enough shape and make sure the kit is complete or complete enough, make sure you have the same engine (DE vs. HR).
A. you'll pay 1/2 as much as anything off ebay
B. you're helping out a fellow member
C. you'll get a great intake and solve your situation

Cheap final price means it was cheap to make. Either no R&D was done, cheap metal that crumbles, filter is shysty. I went with the AEM because of name, reputation, and if something was wrong there is someone to call and get it taken care of. The saying, "you get what you pay for", is around for a reason. Take it for what it's worth
Seriously though I do have an AEM for sale. I love it. Just going back to stock for some personal reasons. If interested hit me up
I want to buy a CAI/SRI, from what i have read the CAI is the better way to go, and SRI are basically pointless and would rather stay with the OEM air filter/intake, but my only question is would i have any problems with driving in the rain with a CAI considering the Air filter is only about 6 inches off the ground?

No, Where my AEM lacated the filter was in the wheel well behind the plastic. it is not visible except from the top of the engine bay. The AEM or Nismo are the way to go if that is what you are looking for. they both have the option to go the fender well or staying in the engine bay on a flooding day.
All nismo evvvrrry thang! I only let parts made by nissan be installed on my car. That looks like some cheap ebay intake.
FYI,Nismo does not make anything.
All Nismo parts are contracted out. They slap a Nismo label on
e'm.Look at a AEM intake.Looks strangely similar to the Nismo.
Its because,AEM makes the Nismo.Fujitsubu makes the S-tune cat
back etc.
I've also got Nismo stuff. It does fit right. But its done by others much the
same as "private label" stuff is done in supermarkets.
