Default Stealth Cats?

i'm lookin at cats next probably, but i'm curious if there is a brand that when given a visual could pass as stock? the rt cats seem to b what everyone is goin with, but i would rather have something an inspection station won't give me much beef about; or atleast minimize the chances of such. well, what would u guys recommend? thanks.

Our cats look like a stock piece, and will also pass smog. They are unpolished stainless with a magnaflow/carsound cat which look like factory cats.

You can see pics of them on our website - kinetixracing.com

Depends. With a lift, the right tools, and some experience, should take approx 1-2 hours.

On jack stands it may take you 4 hours unless you're really fast.

But then again, since they're HF cats, you wont ever need to swap them out again so it's totally worth it in any case.

I highly recommend these for the sound & performance increase vs. price.

Lots of good choices, obviously I'm going to recommend the Crawford cats...

ZERO problems with mine, and of ALL the people whom have ordered them have had zero rubbing, rattling, etc. probs.

Even then Doug is a joy to work with!

Give Doug a call, he'll tell you about them...

in some states it is legal to change the cats as long as they are C.A.R.B. approved...

The part that is visual on the crawford cats is the one that looks like a plain pipe... not the part that looks like the OE cats... so no point really...

the Random Technology cats come with a 50000/5 year warranty from Random Technology and a C.A.R.B. certificate...

why dont you just get test pipes from lsdunique for half the price+ more gains/sound, and use a little bit of the money you save each year to "TIP" the guy inspecting? i always tip them! they just do such a great job!! j/k! just a thought?

test pipes cause air to tumble there flow slowing down velocity of exhaust gas's out of the exhaust, they are ver very loud and raspy...

up to the customer though...

We also offer high flow cats that will pass carb, much like the crawford cats. Right now they are VERY affordable. We still offer our popular test pipes and have recently lowered the price.

Question:
on your website it says...
"Expect great performance gains from these converters as they have dyno'd between 4-10 hp at the wheels on factory 350Z's" for the high flow cats
&
"These pipes have shown a 4-8hp increase at the wheels on factory 350z's. Our CARB legal converters will show almost equal gains, but straight throughs are a MUST for any FI application." for the test pipes.

Does that mean the high flow cats produce more horsepower than the test pipes? I thought it was the other way around...

BTW, received your rear Traction & Toe kit...A+ quality and thanks for the super fast shipping(1 day?). Havent install them yet tho...cuz my car is not here yet!!!!

We have always felt that the straight through design offers the most in performance gain becase it keeps velocity high due to the lack of change in volume as it passes through the pipe.

But.... we have also seen great success with the high flow cats, making the performance gain between test pipes and high flow cats negligible on a moderately modded Z. This could be due to dyno variances, etc. But the test pipes do offer the absolute most in flow so we think they are best suited for the enthusiast who wants to squeeze the most out of their car regardless of emissions, like FI.

Default Choices... choices

Well, if most Hi-flow cats produce pretty much the same results, it makes the decision come down to two things really:

1. Price
2. CARB

From what I have seen the RT Cats are the only ones that actually come with a CARB certificate (which personally makes me feel a bit better about them... however, they are the most expensive). Kinetix says that they have no CARB number and the Crawford's make no mention either way.

Now the price comparisons

Randon Technology = Still $559 from Performance Nissan (Regularly $635)
Crawford = $500
Kinetix = $389

Which to choose... which to choose?
