^ this sentence here paint a pretty good picture already... no pix necessary. Posting pictures of your car on the internet (especially my350z ) will yield you positive/negative comments. You can not tell people to "keep their ignorant comments out," that's like pouring stupid gas on crazy fire.

I bet if this was production made with the name hks, greddy, whatever name you think up, half of you name brand nut riders out there would buy it. You guys act like its the end of the world if someone makes something custom for their Z and its not the prettiest thing in the world. Thank you to those of you who have a proper opinion. And the metal wasnt the cleanest, it had some rust, so the welds weren't really coming out good at all. The looks aren't great, I know, but I just think it sounds better than stock. The stock exhaust pings too much after you have a bunch of bolt ons.

I did something similar. I just removed my muffler and welded a long a$$ 3" tip from where the muffler would have started. It sounds awesome. Looks not terrible. Did a bumper tuck as well

I like the way mine sounds. I'm not gonna do a bumper tuck though. This is only temporary, I'm saving up $ for a real exhaust, I just hate the stock rear muffler so I just figured what the hell, ill make something.

Because nobody has respect in this world anymore. Everyone acts like a teenage punk with a bad attitude. Nobody gives people props anymore for being different and trying their own stuff.

In doesn't take long at all to see whats generally accepted in this community. If you post something that doesn't deviate from it in a good way then you're going to get flamed. Thats just the way it is. Around here people would rather you keep it stock than screw it up.

EDIT: Not to mention a lot of people have said that it sounds good, but looks terrible.

That's because it does.

OP,
way to take on the project…your welds are a bit sloppy, I'm not throwing stones here, but can you redo the welds? Just cut them out and just try it again?

I have a small welder and it usually takes me a few tries to get a weld the way I want it to look...

If we all drove Honda civics we would all think its pretty cool, but when you take something stock that's pretty neat and make it look like every other car. Ehh you know where I'm goin with this

Best comment on here by far!!! I was loling...

Understand the winter thing though... well, I don't right now, but I understand the idea of it.

My buddy had a similar idea, which I would have copied had I not already had my GReddy exhaust. He just deleted the muffler and ran a single OEM tip. It sounded pretty gnarly. I'd be interested in a "loaded" video such as a drive by and letting it wind down in 2nd or something of the sorts. I'm not much for no load revs, it doesn't do the sound justice... Like I said, I understand winter issues.

And I would comment on the ugly welds, but if I tried to weld an exhaust, I would probably end up welding my hand to the exhaust, like in a cartoon.

Other than that, good weekend project!

Apart from the small tip and welds, it actually sounds pretty good, definitely better than stock. Props for the DIY.

If you could get a bigger tip and get a y-pipe of sorts to the other side to make it duals, it'd be damn near perfect, because I'm with the majority, just doesn't look right from the back. (and no I don't care about the welds or ugliness of the piping lol)
