CEL after installing stock cats?
hey guys,
So I put my stock cats back on my Z, I had test pipes on the car and was running with a SES light for a while. I went to my mechanic and he put the stock cats back on but when I started the car the SES light was still on. He then said he could take the code off, so when he was deleting the code I saw that it said (bad o2 sensor). Think the code was PA400? I did not see it clearly. After he deleted the code the SES light was gone, but after about 50 miles it came back on. I dont know if he damaged my O2 sensors or if I have to wait a while before the light goes off again? Anyways I heard that it might be because of a exhaust leak? My Y pipe-my exhaust barely leaks little drops of water. Do you guys think he messed up my O2 sensors?

sounds like you have a broken o2 sensors. did your test pipes have extended o2 bung? most test pipes have shorter o2 bung and it throws a check engine light. i used berk test pipes and no problem.
Alright yeah I will go to o'reilys and see which code it was. Will they check free of charge? But I had 1 O2 sensor bung for my left test pipe. It still threw the SES, and now with my stock cats the light its still there. I think it may be a broken O2 sensor too since my mechanic seemed a little sketchy when he took it off.
I went to my local o reiley's and they do not scan codes anymore in California.... Some b.s. Now I have to wait to go to my mechanic, probably will just buy the code scanner and just keep erasing the ses light? I dont know now, it is becoming a pita seeing it everyday.

You are shooting in the dark until you get the code read.
You may have a bad cat or o2 sensor or exhaust leak or wire harness...
You need the code to figure out which bank if throwing the code
Then go from there
