if the sound is soley want ur really interested in id go for cai over a wai anyday. i can deal with the slight low end loss but high end gain (if any) and no heat soak. if performance id stick with oem. k&n filter is fine. the trade off is more air flow but at the cost of lower filteration. but apexi makes a great dry filter that people like. id probably use that rather than the k&n. u can find it on ebay

Obviously HFC won't pass the visual, but I have heard of very few passing the sniffer test.

Still, it's hard to say, very dependent on the setup. There's a reason why I am not running them lol.

This isn't apples to apples but when I fabbed my intake tube for my LS swap my initial filter location was where the Pop Charger sits. I ran it without any heat shielding. On a 65-70 degree day at idle in my driveway at operating temp my IAT was over 120F. I then through in some card board just to mimic what the pop charger had and it dropped my IAT 20F down to near 100F. It wasn't sealed at all compared to the JWT system I had prior with my VQ. I'm not saying it's the holy grail of supplying cold air, but it does do something.

oh forgot there are fully enclosed intake setups that are like oem like the rc and stillen. but with those probably better off saving the money and keeping it stock. those kits are quite pricey

car running in driveway not the same as car running on the street for longer period of time *with the hood closed!

Cosworth and APEXi make great dry filters that don't require oiling. Better for the MAF and for performance too imo.

Sell the heat soaker.. buy a Revup/06 air box (bigger velocity stack) and drop an APEXi or Cosworth in and you'll be golden.

Data logging with my Cobb Accessport, the JWT pulls 7 to 9 degree warmer than ambient temp. The same temp you will get with a CAI or OEM airbox, the only difference is less restriction with the JWT than you would have with the other 2. This is real world testing, a few of us have done it.

Only downfall, while standing still the car will ingest hot air. It takes 3 to 7 seconds for the AIT to drop back down to ambient temp, power is lost during this time period. Not great for drag racing, but still has proven gains on the strip.

Please don't keep spreading the banter of the mindless sheep.

NA, real world track day testing, revup box with K&N, I gained a full 1mph on the straight and ran consistently 3-4 degrees cooler IAT temps @ WOT and faster times albeit .1 +/- .2 of a second over a pop charger. Same day at the track, brought both with me. Stock Headers, Full Nismo Exhaust. Not a tangible enough increase to justify the money.

I've logged AIT on 120 degree trackdays to 30 degree winter nights.

Where's ur data from normal hot days? That's the important one. Ur data seems none conclusive . All I got was pop charger does not heat up at night n when the hood is open. That's all I got from reading ur thread u posted

As far as the popcharger heatsoak issue...

A while back I used a remote thermometer to measure temperature at the intake cone.
I had a Shine V2 front bumper with air duct. The air duct made a large difference. If you're really worried about it, get one of those front bumper vent thingies.

I would also add in a limited slip differential, I don't think base models have LSD.

I'm still sketched out about installing the Z1 plenum spacer I bought last year. Every time I keep reading about people getting check engine lights and rough idle.
