Ambient temp is ambient temp, day or night. The only thing that matters is ambient temp.

Hood open or close, the only part that matters for this is running on a dyno. Since a car is not at motion (airflow) like it would be while driving , AIT is extremely high and will kill HP. If you open the hood while dyno tuning, you will get more accurate results.

I have a feeling the only way you would believe is doing testing yourself, but I highly doubt you understand enough to do any tests.

terrasmak laying down the knowledge. This whole bs of everyone complaining about heatsoak with the popcharger is such a load of crap. People in here arguing about the smallest change in AIT is ridiculous when 99% of us would never be able to tell the difference on the street. The same 99% probably haven't even really tuned their Z after bolt ons anyway. The last thing I worry about is the inlet temp of my pop charger on hot days.

They used to not... Some people can get lucky though, and if you run the car nice and hard before you go into the test and get the cats working you might be able to.... Most of the time people fail visual first.

Now though if you can get past visual they should work as the SMOG check is changing to get rid of the sniffer and just be visual/OBDII
