Surprise! I'm not retarded.

But, I would like to get an idea on how much to expect to pay to get my plenum PC'd?

I used search, but either my search-fu sucks or its not on there.

It really depends on what color you want done, just a basic solid color or maybe a candy color?

Do you want it polished or smoothed over before its coated, to get rid of that lumpy texture it has on it? That will be extra and I think most people prefer to do this as well.

Ive been qouted 150-300 on average. Really depends on what color and quality you're looking for.

Getting the plenum coated will vary by area.Be better to call local shops that do this.
You can also do an exchange with some distributors.Check Z-1 Motorsports.
They are in the Atlanta area.I considered getting my plenum pwdr coated.Ended
up getting it polished.Cost about the same.Looks much better.
Contact Crawford Z in Nashville.Their price is VERY reasonable.

Yea, I was looking at Z1, atlanta is only about 2 hours from here. They charge 185 for a wrinkle red plenum as long as you give them your old plenum. So I was looking to see if I can get it done cheaper than that or if that's going to be my best bet. I might actually be going to stay a weekend in Atlanta soon anyway...

Also: I really hope at least someone enjoyed the thread title.

It's 5hp, 5.5 if the coating includes pearl or flakes. Add 2-3 hp if you add stickers to it.

Flamed turbo stickers are worth a bit more, about 4-1/4 hp each, give or take 1/8 hp.

Stay away from DC Sport and OBX stickers, they are worth only 3/8 hp and real estate is premium on an intake manifold.

Oh don't you worry, i have a TON of flaming Turbo stickers.
I'm probably going to wrap a front bumper nismo style lip in them and install it that way.

pro there is I won't have to paint the lip

IMO,a polished plenum looks so much better.I had mine done awhile ago
from Crawford. It cost $150,sent mine back for exchange core.Got it in less than a week.
Also,if you are doing a plenum,if you don't already have a spacer, nows the time to slap one on since you got everything apart.

So, you think you are pretty slick? Using smart *** thread title to get attention, so you can get your answers. I see what you are doing.

Here, try this

Nismo stickers > Flaming TURBO stickers, but if you

Powdercoated Flaming TURBO stickers = Nismo stickers. Therefore,

Powdercoated Flaming TURBO stickers wrap on bumper lip <, =, > powdercoated plenum, anybody?

How many powdercoated Flaming TURBO stickers to take to wrap on the bumper lip to gain more hp than powdercoated plenum, anybody?

Also, Your red/black paint engine bay theme = Nismo sticker's red/black theme,

that adds some hp to helps the TURBO stickers to top the hp gain the powdercoated plenum has. Hopefully, that should convince you Powdercoated plenum is just for look, not hp gain. Get it? LOL.

You are pretty smart enough to figure that out, could you?

Anything painted red will look fast, but unfortunately in this case will lose power. It’s always good practice to keep the intake side of the engine as cool as possible. The textured surface of the plenum act like little cooling fins to expel heat. Covering them up with an insulating coating will result in .00000000001 horsepower loss. Even though this is tiny, everything counts to a tuner. As the great Colin Chapman always said, “Form should always follow function”
